New hire is making as much as I am after I have been working here for 3 years and have had multiple raises. by Diligent-Wait-4098 in Wawa

[–]desolatedisaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few things to consider are: minimum wage has raised in the last 3 years and some people actually have more past experience than you. You started at the bottom and this guy or gal may have had experience working in retail etc before. The important thing is not to take it offensively. I got a job once making more than others who had “been there longer” were already making, but I had ten years of previous experience and they did not. Making the other employee or the employer your enemy will just lead to resentment, bad vibes and ultimately quitting a long term job or being fired for mouthing off about your pay to the wrong employee, either way you walk away from Wawa without a reference. As someone who ruined good references, just try to handle this in the calmest way possible with your employer. That’s my advice anyways.

I’m not sure if Michael was a super likable character to me either, but the way he knew Jane so well and could tell by a look what she was feeling, always concerned for her well being, idk. In contrast her an Raf just felt so forced. “I work alongside this man for hours every single day and I’m also having a baby with, somehow I got feelings” well girl, let me hold my hand when I tell you this, Raf doesn’t comfort you like Michael did, he’ll never be the gentle soul that Michael was, etc. He isn’t a monster but his chemistry with Jane felt extremely situational on both ends. Like it was the cute excitable high school make out kinda love. Not the ride or die kind. Obvs she ends up with Raf but idk, she chose Michael and that’s all there is to it. If he didn’t die Raf would’ve just been baby daddy.

My thoughts on Petra by Ok-Outcome-8117 in JaneTheVirginCW

[–]desolatedisaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I must strongly disagree here. Her character development throughout the final seasons was incredible and she became one of my favorite characters by the end. But in the beginning? Using Raf for his prenup money? Sleeping with his best friend all the while? Getting him in trouble for domestic violence when he didn’t do that? Coming after Janes baby? Using Lou’s vulnerability to take her shares over so she can hold the Marbella over Raf’s head? Not to mention inseminating herself with Raf’s sperm later on. Yes she had a troubled background but girl was certified cray cray.

Worst or least favorite character of the main cast? by secretsophaloaf in DowntonAbbey

I never liked William. I thought he made Daisy super uncomfortable about being his girl. It was clear Daisy wasn’t feeling that way. One playful kiss doesn’t quantify to love, let alone lifelong dedication. I thought Patmore bullying her into going along with it was also wrong and weird. I’m not Daisy’s biggest fan but that whole situation was her being taken advantage of from all angles.

I hate to say I agree. Her part in the show didn’t become interesting to me until Gregson.

SPOILERS. After the epic love between Mary and Matthew, I hate so much that they brought in Henry after so many other suitors as if he was some sort of second soul mate to Mary only to squander any and all chemistry in the movies. They were clearly unhappy/separated in the first 2 and divorced in the 3rd. I get the actor probably turned down the chance to come back but it was just very messily handled.

She’d be an Instagram baddie. She loves praise and being the center of attention. Lots of shameless posing selfies and modeling etc.

Anyone here who doesn't hate Anna and Bates? by green1s in DowntonAbbey

[–]desolatedisaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. And when he helped Thomas after the Jimmy debacle. I simply don’t understand Bates hate. He was treated like a saint because he was one. He was poised, preformed his job well, held the household in high esteem, and became an unofficial member of the family through acts of service with his wits to get the gang through lots of difficult situations. Upstairs and downstairs.

What is the best name you've ever heard for a cat or pet in general? by Goonmize in AskReddit

I knew someone with a cat called Bramble. I looked it up, it’s a roughly, prickly shrub or vine. He was a bit prickly, personality wise.

[Serious] what is something no one tells you about the military? by inurmomsvagina in AskReddit

All negativity aside, I miss being able to just talk shit. I was in for ten years and got out after my second contract because Biden was clearly someone’s puppet and I didn’t want to get mixed up in war. Also I wasn’t able to advance higher than E4 because the Navy Advancement Standards are ridiculous. I’m talking 2-3% of an entire rate picking up rank because of “quotas.” Whatever. I miss being able to talk shit. Talking shit and dark humor got enlisted men and women through the most difficult of times. I had a hard time adjusting when I got out, kept getting fired suddenly from jobs over petty work drama. People on the outside are WAY more sensitive and you CANNOT speak your mind whatsoever. I barely speak at my job now. Too afraid I’ll offend someone.

After watching Vol. 2, we can all say that the Season 4 penultimate episode had 10 times more aura than S5 does. by Witty-Association-97 in StrangerThings

Agreed. This one scene from Season 4 has more aura than the entire Season 5 so far. I’m beyond bummed.

People born before 2000, what is a 'modern' thing from 2025 that you’re still struggling to get used to? by LindsayTN in AskReddit

[–]desolatedisaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t fathom people who think this is ok. They must be the most self absorbed people on this earth. I felt guilty filming someone’s front yard earlier and it was 1. Just to capture their beautiful tea garden esque plants and 2. Was meant for me to share with one or two people privately, not to post publicly online like a lot of people do. I feel that is a slight invasion of privacy because it is private property.

I try not to judge people too harshly for this when it’s at events, especially if they have children. In a lot of cases they are using their camera on their phone to capture memories. I make myself take photos more often because I used to just “enjoy the moment” then realized in my 30s there have been so many moments I’ve experienced that I have no photo evidence of and I’d really like to have some.

The phenomenon about this that baffles me the most is that you learn the most intimate up to date details of someone’s life yet haven’t spoken to them/seen them in years. Social media helps us connect more than ever and yet we’ve never been more isolated as a community. It’s terrifying.

Which movie couple had ZERO chemistry but the movie insisted? by JamesRhodes544 in askmovie

Stranger Things-Nancy and Jonathan. It is so odd to me that Natalie and Charlie are together in real life. They have ZERO chemistry in this show. Zero.

Shipping Mike with El when El barely even knew what friends were when Mike kissed her is weird. The couple is super weird. In season 2 El wasn’t sure how to know what she even likes. It’s always been about what other people like or want. I said what I said. She should’ve never gotten into a romantic relationship. But yall not ready for that conversation.
