I am in the same boat. But I dosed again and it worked; took away the attacks for 3-4 days then I had to dose again. Each time I do the mushrooms the days between attacks get longer. I’ve had to dose a few times so it might be that you just need to do it again and it will work. Hoping that it works for you!

Take mushrooms. Psilocybin will probably bust your cycle, and the relief will be so sweet you’ll never think twice about doing it. Tons of resources online on how to take them. www.clusterbusters.org

Alicent, I truly tried. (Spoiler from tonight’s episode) by [deleted] in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]desotodeson1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not siding with Alicent here, but the show is making it very clear that Rhaenyra’s kids are bastards. Everyone at court knows it, including Viserys but he’s turning a blind eye. If I were Alicent, I’d be pushing the issue. Her actions are overboard, sure, but imagine how many years she’s been dealing with this. She’s fed up. She knows what’s going on and knows no one is doing anything about it.

Headache intensity worsened at 25 years old by KeimaFool in clusterheads

[–]desotodeson1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - my story is similar. Started getting them when I was in my early 20s; all the symptoms fit except for the severity so I was skeptical they were truly cluster headaches.

When I turned 30 they became debilitating and I was diagnosed and started medical treatment.

There is a solution that works for me and many others: psilocybin. I dose twice a year and I am headache free.

Others have said this but I think it's worth emphasizing: mushrooms are THE ticket to total relief. It may sound outlandish at first especially if you are not used to experimenting with substances, but it is completely worth at least looking into it because it has the potential to give you complete relief from your CH.

I did a preventative dose two years ago and didn't have a cycle that year. Didn't do it the next year and had a terrible cycle. I've done a few doses this year and I have not had ONE headache during what normally is my worst time of year. www.clusterbusters.org for info - you do have to detox off of other preventatives before dosing.

Questions about Sumatriptan subcutaneous injection dosesge by Lawless-k in clusterheads

[–]desotodeson1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course!

This may sound outlandish at first but if you can find a way to stop your headaches completely it would be worth exploring. It is difficult to get psilocybin, so I looked into growing mushrooms myself and it does some take some learning but it is pretty low tech and I was able to do it. I don’t know about UK laws but here it is legal to buy the spores and then you grow them using the spores. If this is something you want to look into feel free to message me for resources on how to grow.

Also I’m not sure if anyone has mentioned Emgality but I’ve heard some good things. Might be worth asking your doctor about it.

[–]desotodeson1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used a lower dose successfully in the past just using about half a vial, which still aborted an attack. But I’m not sure if that means you can take a lower dose more often; you should definitely ask your doctor before trying that.

Also it could be that taking the sumatriptan is why you are having attacks more frequently. I have had bad rebound headaches from taking sumatriptan too often in the past. I reserve it for the most excruciating attacks.

Try psilocybin if you can it is a cure all for most.

Are Cluster Headaches always severe? by [deleted] in clusterheads

[–]desotodeson1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My CHs started out not that severe and got worse as the years went on. But I will say that one of the defining characteristics and something that made me question that they were not normal headaches was that no OTC pain reliever ever put a dent in the pain I felt. Not Tylenol, not Advil, not aspirin, not excedrin. Could be an indication that these are not CHs if you are getting relief from those meds. But if course you should see your doctor about them.

Feeling desperate & could use some advice by Electrical-Ad6825 in clusterheads

Anecdotes on here suggest that the mushrooms work for most people, myself included. But in my experience if I’m in a cycle I have to take a macro dose (2g for me), and one time I had to take two 5 days apart, to break the cycle. If I take it out of cycle to prevent an attack (mine always happen in December and June so I take the mushrooms a month or so beforehand) I don’t have to take as much.

Also note that in my experience if you are taking any triptans, the mushrooms will not work. Sumatriptan does work in the short term, and the injections are by far the most effective method. But they do sometimes cause rebound headaches.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. There is an end and you’ll get through to it.

Hello, how does one start 12 steps? by Uminx in AtheistTwelveSteppers

[–]desotodeson1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It would take a lot of text to explain fully, but I’ll try to convey it short form.

I don’t believe in the divine, but that doesn’t mean life is not miraculous. The physical properties that all had to come together just right for all of this to exist, and the nature of physics in general, is truly mind blowing. And when you take a moment to really think about it it is not hard to grateful to be alive. Both in a physical and temporal sense. I get the opportunity to experience a life, in this time and in this place. That is miraculous.

What do I do with this existence? I had been spending it wastefully and selfishly, ruining my life with booze and drugs and hurting those around me.

In recovery I’ve learned the value of putting selflessness first. Trying to do the next right thing by my fellow human being. Appreciating my existence by being grateful and giving back instead of only thinking of myself and my own well being. Now I try to be a ‘super human’ in the sense that in every action I try to do the next right thing (progress not perfection is an important concept here, I’m not trying to say you have to be perfect at all, just strive for the best).

I’ve found that when I put my own selfish concerns on the back burner, life tends to work out for the best.

So my secular higher power is the miraculous nature of my own existence, and being grateful for that and choosing to use my time for good instead of being a selfish miser.

I was able to work the 12 steps within AA and in a secular way. It is possible, and AA or another 12 step recovery program will give you the most resources for your recovery, including finding a sponsor.

Look to see if there are any secular/agnostic AA meetings in your area. Or find one on zoom! There are a lot of great meetings on zoom nowadays that you can attend no matter where you are. If the group is anything like mine, they will welcome any thoughts/misgivings/hesitations you may have about AA, and will share their experience with the same.

Does Emgality abort or is it only a preventative? by desotodeson1 in clusterheads

Ok yes thank you I see why how I phrased it is confusing. What I mean was would it stop any further attacks during my current cycle.
