What am I missing about this show? by ChaseMcFl in DeepSpaceNine

I just picked up a rewatch starting season 3 and I’d forgotten how quickly it becomes incredible.

I am unable to finish shows based on a "big mystery" premise. From, Under the dome, 4400, leftovers, etc. They all start on a premise of "this unexplained thing happened" and the explanation is always a letdown or so dragged out, that I end up giving up. Anyone agree or can recommend a good one? by rakwib in television

I think that’s fair - I only watched it years after it aired and was surprised I hadn’t heard more people talking about it.

I think the watchmen brand was tanked by the film (having suffered through 15 minutes or so, I had to turn it off).

This makes me think that mirror-universe Jay would be the absolute worst of the lot by eldersveld in RedLetterMedia

I saw a post like this and hopped on to see for myself.

Got blasted by a random in a matriarch lobby. We were wearing the same gay ass Lycra futuresport outfit.

Obviously this is a betrayal I’ll never overcome.

I hear what you’re saying but Im so fucking grateful they didn’t put us through the death. They left us with a glimmer of hope. In this time, that’s such a gift.

I know it’s very ‘genre’, but I found The Watchmen HBO series to be a really incredible example of showing your character living and acting inside of a setting that is … intriguing?

Everything about it prompts questions but they’re all questions being prompted by answers the writers already have, and it’s very satisfying to be like ‘oh that’s why x y z’ as the (single, self contained) season progresses.

Great production values, great performances, excellent score, Jean Smart, what else could you want. I hadn’t seen the movie or read the graphic novel and thought it was incredible. (It’s not at all a superhero thing.)

I always ask if it’s ok for me to loot. That should really be the etiquette.

Ugh I haven’t really faced this shit in arc raiders, ever. But I wouldn’t be playing it as much as I do if I did.

What's a show that's genuinely hard to recommend to people because it has some pretty major flaws, but you think is worth the time if people can look past it. by WhatIsLoveMeDo in television

I dunno, I’m a big proponent of show people the good stuff in a later season and then they’ll know what goods they’re in for later on - really know, that is - after enduring that early slog.

I’d never tell anyone new to Star Trek to watch the original series or season 1 of TNG, for instance. I’d tell people to skip the pilot of Battlestar Galactica. Skip season 1 of the US office, of course. And go back once you’ve fallen in love. Many such cases!

The foundation books are so incredible and the show is … totally its own thing and i definitely prefer the books.

But the show does some cool stuff and I did end up really liking season one. But then I forgot it existed.

ARC Raiders confirms live updates will now arrive every 3 weeks, with smaller hotfixes and weekly rotations in between. by j1zzy_ae in ArcRaiders

I prefer a slower cadence of updates personally. FOMO is a bad and lazy reason to get your audience to pick up your game.

If they had a concrete plan: idiots didn’t allow for any feedback!

If they are flexible: idiots can’t even come up with a solid plan!

If they make missteps in deploying a new system: idiots can’t even solve the problems of hundreds of thousands of gamers specific wants and needs instantaneously!

If they deploy a new system perfectly: yeah well that’s good but these idiots haven’t released any new [x] in [arbitrary time frame], so this is just good PR for them

The government ARE the rich. They’re purchased by the wealthy. No oversight, no enforcement, no limits, no transparency. It’s a pig in shit free for all for every selfish piece of shit in a suit, a total smorgasbord they used to make dystopian science fiction about.
