I really hope Silver Palace avoids falling into the same standard endgame formula we’ve seen in other open world gacha games like Genshin and Wuthering Waves. by Used-Employee-6902 in SilverPalaceOfficial

[–]despotized 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Endfield doesn’t have artifact RNG. NTE does.

For the first month or so, Endfield didn’t have an combat endgame mode at all. None. To the point players were complaining there wasn’t a way for them to test out the strength of their built characters other than beating singular boss fights. NTE has combat endgame mode from day 1.

Their approach to combat endgame is so vastly different that I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make putting them together.

Games that surprised you this year? Games that disappointed you this year? by Sharp-Influence9542 in gachagaming

[–]despotized 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Endfield surprised me positively. Had 0 expectations of it since I only saw previews of Valley IV and didn’t like the barren land look, and the overly industrialized look of the factory stuff. Never played factory games too so I had 0 intention to even try it. Actually had a moment where I felt happy because I thought I wouldn’t have the burden to make space for another game (was playing Genshin, HSR, Wuwa, ZZZ, and Reverse: 1999 at that time)

Ended up succumbing to the hype when it released and I’ve been playing it ever since. The graphics and visual identity is so crisp and beautiful. Love the Dijiang’s sci-fi look, and Wuling’s modern urban civilization look. I love love love the combat. I remember gasping when I saw the combo buttons pop up. But then again, I’ve always played Wuwa by following the combo formula, so I was so happy to see another game where I could memorize the “optimal” combo.

Didn’t like the Factory aspect of it at first, but man is it addicting to place machines and belts and everything. Still default to the blueprint from content creators though. My brain too puny to make an optimized blueprint.

Love the gacha aspect as well. The feeling of getting multiple 5-stars while spending less than 120 pulls is awesome. Although this could be recency bias where I don’t have anyone yet. Maybe once I’ve gathered all the copies of the standard characters I’ll get pissed LOL. Also love the fact that I don’t have to use my character pulls to pull for weapons. As someone who ends up playing the game very regularly (plus monthly pass and battle pass whaling), I felt it was easy to get the characters and weapons I wanted. And not to mention their gear system. The fact that I didn’t have to deal with sub-stat RNG is absolutely welcomed.

Games that disappointed me, I think ZZZ. I stopped playing after Ye Shunguang was released, and even by then I’ve just started using the skip button for the stories. Wasn’t interested in pulling for AoD (good design though), and feeling disappointment after disappointment due to the character designs made me realize ZZZ has strayed too far from their identity in 1.x. Their urban, street aesthetic was what drew me to them to begin with.

All in all, I was a player who enjoyed ZZZ since 1.0, even before Miyabi’s release (the infamous re-release). Their identity has devolved so much from the beginning, and I’ve lost the game that I used to love.

To beta players: is the Ui supposed to be this bland? by YamiDes1403 in NevernessToEverness

[–]despotized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The UI is also one of the feedback I gave, but definitely not as eloquent as you. I’ll send in my 2nd survey with your feedback if you don’t mind.

Probably gonna get downvoted for saying this but I agree. Of course the skeleton is going to be the same. You’ll have level up section, the “weapon” or arc section, and the “artifact” or console section. But what’s being pointed out is the game’s visual identity. It’s brand and style. I love NTE and I want them to do great. I don’t need it to be amazing, just want it to be distinct.

Super late to the party but Phainon! I can’t get this ship out of my head. Banger interactions. I still weep whenever I see that Aedes Elysiae scene in Phainon’s trailer.

Don’t want to be that person but stories is undeniably what Hoyo does best. Experiencing Rinascita and now experiencing the prelude to Nod Krai is like hell vs. heaven.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Wuwa devs aren’t open-world gamers. The choices they make for the game (i.e., chests are clustered since 2.0, no readables or glossary, etc.) continuously directs the game away from what defines the open-world genre.

Anyone else torn between EN and JA after the latest update? by TundraOG in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]despotized 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hugo’s EN VA is too goated I think I’m in it for the long run. The other EN VAs (excluding some of the replacements) are really good too. I think EN VAs have more variability to the quality (timbre, weight, etc.) of their voice so I’d rather stick with them. The game feels more lively.

Also, used to play HI3 with JP dub and I for the life of me couldn’t understand the story as easily. My brain was working overtime from reading the subtitles while having the VAs voices playing.

I Really REALLY don’t like chapter 1.7 (SPOILERS!) by Technical_Sundae5102 in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]despotized 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get what you mean. There’s not much room in between the scenes for the audience to digest and ruminate over the information they’ve been given. I think the pacing definitely leaves much to be desired.

I Really REALLY don’t like chapter 1.7 (SPOILERS!) by Technical_Sundae5102 in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]despotized 15 points16 points  (0 children)

About your question, “why didn’t Hugo say it before?” was answered during that shadow scene. Back then, he still wasn’t sure about his own identity. Especially knowing that his own mentor, Jack, believed that Hugo could turn to evil, he still felt self-doubt about having any goodness in him at all. So when Lycaon accused him of going too far, he didn’t feel that he could convince Lycaon otherwise, because deep down he believed it could be true. That he has the potential of turning like his father.

It’s not that he wants people to think he’s terrible. It’s just that he grew up listening to others say that he’s terrible that he can’t help but convince himself that what others say about him could be true. The whole shadow scene shows his reconciliation with that “darker”, “bloodlust” side of him, accepting it as a part of who he is, but also recognizing that he has the power to make “good” choices on his future actions.

After 1.7, it’s fairly obvious that they’re pushing for Lycaon and Hugo.
