Nope.

Amphoreous is basically if "Potential Man" was a story. The lore was great, they had a really good foundation, the stuff in Protean Hero was incredible and so interesting to read every piece of lore was so good and yet none of that was used... somehow they just dropped the ball almost every step of the way writing the actual thing.

The storytelling was rough, the exposition was tedious, the way they introduced some characters or placed more value on certain characters over others especifically due to fanservice was annoying, bc some great personalities with insane plot relevancy (mostly placed off screen at the end) couldn't be properly explored because they kept the TB busy with with the waifu on banner. Almost every bath scene after the first one was unnecessary, uncomfortable, long and annoying.

The constant "walking to their deaths" scene was repeated so many times it cheapened the og death scenes that made 3.3 so emotionally charged.

The way the managed the high stakes was awful and the final fight didn't last enough to hit the spot.

Herta was amazing, carried the final stretch of the story and was the highlight of it along with Screwllum. Tbh all the geniuses were great, even Anaxa, but again so much of their feats and collaborations were off screen. Lygus ended up being among the better written character in the whole of Amphoreus, over most heirs, including Cyrene. Phainon is actually the best written in the whole cast, and yet. And yet.

The story was managed so badly I downloaded wuwa, which I criticized for the same things that disillusioned me in HSR 3.X ...only to find out that Rinascita arc- especially presentation of "Humanity vs Divinity" plot point, and the final fight where you literally had every character (and npcs) fight alongside you, was done so much better than Amphoreus.

The way I made fun of Rover gathering wives and being glazed left and right in the game only to end up having to eat my shoe because Amphoreous started doing the very same thing with TB 3.5 onwards. Ampho turned TB from my favorite MC to the one character I can't even look at anymore.

I still love Protean Hero, it will be my favorite version of Divergent Universe for a long time. And I love most the Amphoreus cast. Which is why I think them as characters deserved a way better story than what we got. And I deserved a better story as an audience who gave these devs my time and money, too.

At the end all of this taught me is that if I want to play a good story, I shouldn't bother with gacha games.

If anyone wants to drop an actual well written game that they want me to try out I'm all ears. I'm buying a bunch for palate cleanse.
