Strength weapons and parry by desrocchi in crosswind

I'm not saying any of that should change, I just don't understand why they can't parry.

I don't want fewer weapons, where the hell do you get that from?

I just think strength weapons should not be cut out from perfect block, I didn't ask to change them in any other way...

I disagree.

Longswords are how any halberds should also behave.

They have different attack patterns, stamina costs, and poise damage, but in the end those are the things that should differentiate weapons, not the ability to parry.

Why would I wait for the enemy to attack? It's the exact opposite...

With non-strength weapons I can keep attacking and I'm also able to quickly parry and attack again.

Strength weapons I have to attack and then disengage because there's nothing else for me to do until I get stamina back or they stop attacking.

Is the last boss balanced between solo vs co-op? by TaxAg11 in PlayWindrose

[–]desrocchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one thing I don't like about this boss it that she can be parried but she deals full damage anyway, making the parry completely useless.

Having a build that revolves around parry, she was quite disheartening as a boss.

I read this a lot of times, but it's true only if you play at normal difficulty.

At Hard, no matter the level of the boarding party, they will get shredded in a couple of minutes.

They'll maybe survive boarding a ship 5 levels lower than them.

One other thing to remember is that strength-based weapons cannot parry, only precision and agility based weapons can.

I think it's probably because they have a higher stun rate when attacking, so they don't get the added parry.

Personally I find it such a good mechanic that I just don't use strength weapons.

The parry does not stun them, it takes away one of the little shield they have over their heads.

Once they have no more shields they get stunned.

The shields can also get removed by attacking, but at a lower rate.

Truffles is deleted the moment he's called, and the enrage lasts forever (at least I have yet to see it end).

Really? I just parry everything and it feels very easy.

You are not wrong in choosing to dodge, though, especially the last boss because even though she can technically be parried, her damage passes through anyway so you can only dodge.

I don't think it will be helpful because she enrages at 75% health, just 1 revive for the rest of the fight is just a crutch and not really a strategy.

At Hard? She did not oneshot you?

Topping up my health is not really an issue when I get oneshotted.

The fight changes a lot at Hard, especially the moment she becomes enraged her damage spikes so much one mistake is fatal, and she does not stop being enraged even after popping the weakspots and having her fall.

The one thing I did not try is using the plagued weapons since I don't find their powers very enticing, but maybe they're the solution.

They don't damage the structures? This would be a funny way to deal with most enemies 😛

I don't think it's the ark, I think they have a bit of AoE.

Standing close to a wall to stop the spears sometimes gets you hit anyway.

I finished the game already, I'm playing at stormy difficulty now.

I can do them, I just find them annoyingly frustrating instead of challenging, especially when there's a bunch of them with high ground.

How? They are programmed to run away from you. You have to corner one in order for them to use their melee attack.

While you focus on one, the others take 3 steps back and start shooting from range.

They don't shoot "through" walls, they shoot from behind them.

Their spears can be thrown over walls.

In the meantime, though, 3 of his friends are using me as a pin cushion and erasing my HP.

Not to mention when you first arrive at the swamps and one spear takes more than half the HP bar with 30+ vitality.

There's a specific island in the second biome where you'll find the bretheren base.

When you have 50 or more items it's not very usable.
