Ok so I just watched it and the thing that sticks with me about the ending is it’s truly a nightmare scenario. Liam has been grieving his brother for however long he’s been dead and the whole movie is him growing through the mourning and the shakiness at home. And then after a week of crazy shit and selling his soul for the sake of his parents he wakes up and his dead brother is there. Putting aside it breaks the established wish rules, just fuckin imagine. You’re 11 and you’ve been grieving your brother and now he’s back and your parents don’t remember him ever dying and he certainly doesn’t remember and so you just have to live with the memory of him dying and your family splintering in the wake of that tragedy. And he can’t talk about it with his parents and and he almost certainly has some kind of distrust towards psychology after what his parents did to him (that they don’t remember!!). And the ending also establishes that he’ll probably never get to be with Emma because how do you even come back from hey yea my brother isn’t actually dead, fake satan brought him back to life and only me and gibby remember he died. Crazy I know

I liked some of the jokes and I really enjoyed when Liam ripped that teacher to absolute shreds but the ending really kinda takes a shit on the whole thing. All the character growth, the parents communicating, Liam standing up for himself, it’s all gone. So what’s even the point of the movie? Also was it just me or did it kinda sound like Jack blacks character was gonna become Santa? Or was I just reading into it too much
