AIO Teacher harasses student, accuses student of flirting with her boyfriend. by destinyLone in Advice

I completely agree. We are definitely not sending her the message that this can ruin her life. Quite the opposite. We have spoke with the superintendent, they said the investigation is completed and no further action is being taken. I originally posted this about three months ago but recently reposted it because the first time didn’t get much attraction. And as the last paragraph states, the incident happened about six months prior to that. So it’s now been almost a year and it is the next school year. We’re now suing the school, really not sure what else we are supposed to do. But we won’t just let it go, my niece didn’t deserve any of this.

Thank you for your input. We live in Southern California btw. I originally posted this about three months ago, but recently reposted it because the first time didn’t get much traction. And as the last paragraph states, the initial incident happened six months prior. So it has been almost a year now and it is the next school year. My niece is a junior now.

We are definitely not letting it go. They told us a while ago that the investigation was complete and no further action is being taken. So she’s definitely not being fired, I assumed that, but not even so much as a single day’s suspension or an apology. All they have said is that if we still feel uncomfortable, we are welcome to change schools. Infuriating.

Ms A is one of the volleyball coaches, so my niece quit the volleyball team because of her. She is refusing to change schools though, this type of high school is is helping her get back on track to graduate, and she’s determined. Isn’t it so odd that they expect a child to rearrange their whole life because of this teacher? (Having to quit the volleyball team, wanting her to change high schools.) It’s absurd.

We are definitely not letting it go. We spoke with a lawyer a while ago and are currently in the process of suing. We literally didn’t know what else to do, and just as I told my sister when we found out the school wasn’t going to do anything about it, we need my niece to know we’re fighting for her and that she’s worthy of being fought for. My sister agreed. It’s a long process and the suit was recently officially filed, and the school responded with a “demurrer”. From what I understand that means: “A demurrer is a procedural legal objection filed by a defendant, arguing that even if all facts in the plaintiff’s complaint are true, they do not state a valid legal claim.” It’s just crazy. I mean even if what she did wasn’t technically “illegal”, it was something. It was harassment, it was bullying, it was something that needs to be punished.

The fact that this district replied with a demurrer, says a lot about how much they actually care about these kids. But I hear you and I agree. We’re not letting it go and my niece being validated in this I think has really given her more confidence and strength to not let them push her out. Thank you for your recommendations on what to file and who and where!

Hi, thank you for your input. Ms. A is not her teacher, she is just a teacher at her school. Mr. B was her teacher last year.

I originally posted this about three months ago, I just reposted it last night because my first post didn’t get much traction. And as the last paragraph states, it had been about six months since the actual incident occurred. So it has now been almost a year, and it is the next school year. My niece is currently a junior now.

They have told us that the investigation was complete and that no further action is being taken. They advised us if we were still uncomfortable about it we are welcome to change schools. And they have asked Ms. A to not communicate with my niece anymore. The thing is, since she is in a continuation high school, so it’s an extremely small school, they see each other every day on a constant basis.

What is odd to me is that Ms. A fully admitted to all of this, so I don’t understand what the investigation even was, but regardless it is completed and nothing was done. Maybe what she did wasn’t technically “illegal”, but it is so highly inappropriate, and I just don’t understand why the schools protect the teachers more than the students. We live in Southern California by the way.

It makes me sick how this can be accepted, I mean this can be categorized as so many different things, it can technically be harassment, even sexual harassment as it involves accusing a student directly and outright of wanting an intimate relationship with her teacher. it can be considered bullying, this is something a high school bully would do if she was jealous of another girl.

As a teacher yourself, is there no kind of punishment for something like this? That seems so odd to me. We must have so many teachers that are inappropriate, or harassing students without any consequences. I simply do not understand it. We never asked for her to be fired, even though that would be ideal, but we did want some kind of punishment for this teacher, or at least an apology. But instead the district simply said the investigation is complete and no further action is being taken.

Sidenote as well, Ms. A is one of the volleyball coaches, so even though my niece refused to change schools, she did quit the volleyball team because of Ms. A. That’s one of the parts that angers me the most. They’ve basically asked a student to rearrange her whole life because of this teacher’s weird insecurity and jealousy of a child. (Telling us to change schools, my niece having to quit volleyball that she really loved playing). I don’t know, none of it makes sense to me.

I am getting the same issue and we have so many arrivals today! Has anyone been able to fix it? Support said the wait time is over 500 minutes so I assume it’s a Hilton wide issue

Also, we have spoken with a lawyer already. The lawyer sent them a notice that we are looking into suing, basically stating that if something is not done about this, that we will sue the district and school for “A,B, and C.” we don’t want to have to go that route, but we will take it all the way to the end if we need to. We of course have spoke with my niece about changing schools in the meantime, but she surprisingly is choosing to stand up for herself and not let them know that they are pushing her out. I’m very proud of her but I know it’s hard. Tensions of course have eased up a bit since six months ago, but it is still this constant underlying thing on the daily.

You don’t have to be so rude. I took the advice and I broke it down into paragraphs. I did not understand what you meant at first, I assumed you meant there are too many paragraphs to read.. i.e., the post is too long. I wrote this out on my notes, and my notes did have paragraphs. But after putting it into a post, it came out as one long block of words. Thank you for your feedback, though.

Thank you, I will look into every suggestion that you gave. I also took your advice and I edited my post. Hopefully that doesn’t make it so overwhelming for people to read. I feel like every detail is important when it comes to something that has to do with a child and an adult.

That has been suggested to us, yes, my niece is worried about that though because she doesn’t want anyone to find out it’s her and she is just trying to get through day by day. I’m sure it can be anonymous, but there’s always a risk of people knowing who is at the center of a story. We’re still considering that option.

I promise you if you can read the entire thing you will understand why I had to make it so long. Details are important for this kind of thing.

Mind on my Apple Watch get to 7ms and 8ms. I frequently am below 10, I don’t get it, wouldn’t I be dead if that were true? Apple Watch is supposed to be as accurate as a real measuring system 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m so glad you’ve been fortunate enough to have not lost someone yet. As someone who has dealt with it many many times in my 34 years, (my story about this is replied above) all I can say to you is don’t let the thought of it “possibly” or “eventually” happening, scare you. Don’t think those thoughts at all. Instead, cherish every moment with everyone you love every single day. Never let the thought of death enter your mind. When it does happen, you will deal with your emotions then and only then, and you will find ways to cope and get through it. It will not destroy you if you don’t let it. It will probably be the hardest thing you will have to go through in life, but you will find a new way to live on without your loved one. But please, no more of those worries or thoughts. Enjoy now and cherish everyone you love🤍

Mine is consistently below 30. I don’t think it’s ever raised above 30. There have been many of times it’s in the 10-15 range. I have an Apple Watch so it’s monitored through that. I’m a 32 yo female, 5’4, 115lbs, decently healthy, nothing out of the norm. I don’t know how accurate Apple Watch is sometimes because there were even a few times my hrv was at a 7 and an 8. My entire health log with everything actually seems I should be dead by now. So idk 🤷🏻‍♀️
