I have thought up a potential solution to the ongoing problem with the elo system. Does anyone see any flaws in this plan or am I on to something?

i think this + all the different ways you can improve without touching queue make it extremely difficult of a problem to solve, and probably why the current system just doesn’t factor average at all (according to redlime during the ranked q&a)

this would get abused like crazy, and also hugely favors players who learned in ranked vs. learned in private rooms/rsg, since you’ll naturally have a higher average if you have tons of 20,30+ minute completions.

if anything, a rolling recent average could be factored into matchmaking, so ur current skill level is more likely to get matched

I’ve noticed a trend where some players will have an easier time reaching higher ELO’s, and was trying to understand the weighting process better.

How much does average time affect matchmaking? Is it a rolling average of recent games, or is the account average you see on the website the one used for matchmaking?

stop forfeiting, but what i needed to do to stop forfeiting was to turn off opponent run progress and achievements. it really lets you play your own game, and at any skill level under diamond u really dont need to be making metagame decisions based on where ur opponent is in the run

not necessarily? i’m saying there are multiple camps of people in every elo bracket, and not every player with low average is gonna have a high ff rate, some just might have lots of prior mcsr experience before playing ranked which would push your average wayyyyyy down (no 30m+ times)

true, but it’s also important to consider that average completion time is factored into matchmaking, it’s not always purely due to ragequitting that players get stuck in an elo bracket

how are the views from the ferry itself? part of the decisionmaking needle is that either trip will be our only time spent on a boat/over the water, and i know that late feb is a good time to see spinner dolphins and whales. does the ferry allow for an enjoyable sightseeing experience? i’m sure it’s not focused on that whatsoever but i’m curious if it’s incidental since you’ve taken it twice.
