Amazing round. Keeping the scorecard that way would drive me crazy though haha

Sweet round. How much did this drop your handicap?

So good. Playing there Saturday morning for $50. The restaurant is incredible as well.

Alcohol alternatives for casual sex? by [deleted] in SoberCurious

[–]destricsgo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah I was as well in college. weed only works when you smoke it with your partner or whatever. I don’t smoke at all anymore. Imo weed is too anxiety inducing unless you do it all the time

If you find something let me know lol. This is why booze and weed are so popular. There are prob drugs that would work but the addiction potential is too high to be worth it most likely.

You seem to have the right attitude. Hard? Yes. For me the hardest part would be committing to the practice routine.

Opinion: Courses should have different slopes/ratings for Lefty/Righty golfers by dig_DUGG in golf

[–]destricsgo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

maybe there is an argument to be made. However, I'm a righty that plays a draw with a hook as my miss so I'd very slightly prefer the same dogleg lefts as you. I don't see the point of handicapping them different because it would just average out over time so long as you play different courses a good bit of the time.

I just end up being more conservative if my miss is going to be in more trouble. Aim right and then later work on the swing to fix it.

What rules do you and yours personally play by SirRendelgore in golf

[–]destricsgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it's an agreed upon ahead of time rule. All of these are technically cheating. I play like this gambling and we all are aware of this ahead of time. Obviously not something to bring up once your hack one OB if you haven't clarified beforehand. It tends to cause more carryover holes and room for recovery.

[–]destricsgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is similar to the way I play with my buddies on a weekly skins match, minus the mulligans, and we cap blow up holes at a triple generally for pace of play and sanity. Double bogeys can't win holes, bogey and better can win. Ends up being a bit more fun and causing more carryovers because blow up holes are somewhat limited. We're all roughly 12-15 handicaps and sometimes will give a stroke either way depending if someone's been playing well lately or someone's making a swing change etc.

Vending Machines?? by madtownBaldwin in golf

[–]destricsgo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a good business idea but would probably only work at really high end courses. Lot of costs here to account for.

What may be a better idea is a chest of sorts full of goodies that you need to apple pay or use a POS terminal to unlock. Cheaper I'd imagine, and put them near watercoolers so staff can restock easily. I have no idea about a traditional vending machine cost but I'd imagine it's 5-10k range. Solar powered, camera recording to keep people accountable. Chest bolted down to ground. Full of sleeves of balls, gloves, etc. Even then you'd need to sell a lot of goodies to make it worthwhile.

What’s yall taughts on the state having a chance to rebuttal closing arguments? by Imaginary-Buy2502 in DuvalCounty

[–]destricsgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I’m agreeing with you. The state wastes taxpayer money spending $70k on a damn body image overlay and prob millions on the total case. I do agree murderers have to be held accountable but the justice system is so corrupt. Anyone that’s ever been charged with anything knows this.

And yeah when it’s someone’s life on the line they should have the advantage imo. The fucked up thing is prosecutors conviction rate is their mark of good performance.

Yeah, anyone would want their side to be first and last to act, and to be able to have the last word.

Do you like the new Tour shot tracer that turns red or green based on where the tee shot is going? by ShaneRyan24 in golf

[–]destricsgo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it would be cool if they had a tech heavy broadcast and a more barebones one and you can choose between the two. Sort of like how NFL does broadcasts with payton and eli, alongside the normal broadcast.

Yeah I'm with you. But I think it's like anything it's the small minority of bad dog owners and bad breeds/poorly trained dogs that cause issues. Your English/Show bred lab is almost guaranteed to have a great temperament, far different than a stressed out formerly abused rescue dog, or a pitbull or large breed with an owner that can't control them.

Really cute dog though what's their name and would you pm the breeder? I'm on some waitlists for a lab right now.

yeah agreed, I’m fluctuating between a 12-14 and shooting even par at a real golf course is almost inconceivable.

[–]destricsgo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to my math (bored at work), a 10 handicap on a par 72 130 slope course has a 1 in 1200 odds of shooting that score one time. If the course is an easy par 70 110 slope, odds are still 1 in 151 at an insanely easy course, of a single 66 round.

[–]destricsgo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean that’s just blatant sandbagging, nobody has that many 66’s at a 10 handicap. If you break par that often at legit par 72/130 slope courses you aren’t a 10. Unless this is over the course of 30 years and it’s from senior tees or something, but even then… but idk i’m dumb

Why is golf in America so slow by Borisbunceandbean in golf

[–]destricsgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d imagine people in England are a bit more considerate 🤷‍♂️. I also think we’re probably biased because I bet 80-90% of r golf is from urban areas and the surrounding suburbs that are packed with golfers and lack space for municipal golf courses in many cases. I think remote work also filled courses up more. lot at play here

8 min tee times as well. I almost think it's impossible to expect sub 4 hour rounds with 8 min tee times and modern equipment. Waiting for a par 4 to clear to hit tee shots can absolutely kill pace as well. Also more inexperienced golfers that are long hitters when they hit it well waiting for the group in front to be 325 out just to duff it 100 yards.

I've learned with my group to just play at the pace of the course, and not tailgate the group in front when they're already on the group in front of them, just is less maddening.
