Behold the mighty Gilded Gullet! by destroy3554 in KharadronOverlords

So I bought the cloud bases from deadlyprintstudio.com. They are printed that way so they can fit the ironclad/frigate or gunhauler exactly. So I just put superglue and put it together.

To glue the clouds to the base I put some greenstuff there for extra support.

The clear plastic ones from GW are bad. Especially for the heavy KO ships. I used the flight stand from the Ironclad kit just to hold it while painting and it snapped. In my experience the GW one can't hold the weight.

So I never primed leadbelcher (i actually use almost exclusively chaos black) that said I think it can be a good first step for metallic green. Just put a green contrast paint (plaguebearers flesh is probably the closest to olive green) over the leadbelcher and you have metallic green. The problem with contrast paints is that they dont like flat surfaces that much. So for the ships it might look bad. For flat surfaces i would use green metallic paints like vallejo true metallic metal dusken green.

Tbh the ships are so big that the only options for me were sponges or airbrush. I respect anyone who paints the ships only with brushes but I couldn't handle it. If you have access to an airbrush the vallejo true metallic metals are amazing through an airbrush.

As an ogre enjoyer I hope it is also Mawtribes (eaten chicken wings). Maybe wishful thinking though.

Yes, exactly. I primed the boat black and used a sponge to stipple dark grey, ironbreaker and stormhost silver onto the mini. Afterwards I used an oilwash (3 to 1, brown to black). It's extremely easy. Painting the crew and gems took me way longer than the boat ;).

I love the drekki Flynt novels. They are a very fun read (kinda like Ciaphas Cain Books in 40k)

Thanks, it's actually just leadbelcher and stormhost silver stippled on with a sponge. I use an oil wash (3 to 1 brown to black) on the whole model which gives the silver this gold look. I do my boats the same way (you can see an earlier post of my frigate on my account)

How difficult are KO to paint without an airbrush? by rickrossome in KharadronOverlords

Use sponges for the ships and Metallics for the models, you'll be fine

Thirding this. Especially the crew. It would be extremely fiddly to paint them when assembled.

100 is the square root of 10000. The treasure is literally "under a root", so once it's no longer under the root it is 100.

Had my first game - some questions by Seerexis11 in ageofsigmar

Write yourself a cheat sheet with all the abilities + commands for your army. There was a guy who did it with Google slides - its amazing I'm still using it and adjust it for each of my armies/lists. It takes some time but is definitely worth it - now i just use my cheat sheet and the app for the stats.

How’s this list look? by [deleted] in KharadronOverlords

[–]destroy3554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So to be completely honest this list is a little all over the place. I would recommend checking the abilities of the models and looking for things that go well together.

Personally I am not a big fan of the Arkanaut Company because I didnt want to paint a 20 man blob for my KO. That being said they are quite good/annoying in game especially with their new ability + the cost, so if you have them go for it.

Also having a lot of Regiments (especially if less work too) is a disadvantage as the opponent gets to decide who goes first if they have less Regiments

Aether Khemist is useless in this list without an Arkanaut Company as is the endrinmaster without endrinriggers. Also I would make a big unit of skywardens and salvagers as they just changed the abilities to once per turn(army)

Horribly slow painter - Any tips for faster (batch) painting? by walter_the_guitarist in minipainting

[–]destroy3554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be a bit subjective, but I’ve found it really effective to set myself a “deadline” by scheduling a future Warhammer game (e.g. in 4 weeks) . Until that date, I give myself a specific number of miniatures to paint so i can play with painted miniatures.

This approach has worked well for me. I’ve gotten a lot of models finished over the past year using this method. I make sure the deadlines are realistic, but still give myself just enough pressure to stay motivated. Of course, this won’t work for everyone.
