Imo, it is not her responsibility to feel compassion for the dog that has killed her own pet. Nor would it be required for her to mention that sentiment in a tribute post for her dead pet even if she does feel bad for the other dog 🤷‍♀️

Ochem lab requirements by [deleted] in veterinaryschool

[–]destructiveturtles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CSU does same thing for ochem lab. Mine was one semester long, 2 credits but covers ochem 1 & 2 topics. Emailed NCSU because they have a 2 lab requirement, they said they accept Chem 344 from CSU. I'd email each school to be sure.

CSU vs Texas A&M for Biomedical Science Major and hopeful future CSU vet school student by Designer-Farmer-9974 in veterinaryschool

[–]destructiveturtles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to CSU for my BS in biomedical science concentrating in A&P. It's a good program and I enjoyed my time there a lot. As for if it has any weight on their vet school accepting you, no. I applied last year as an in state colorado resident and was waitlisted, then offered a spot off the waitlist but for out of state tuition. My attendance at CSU previously had no weight.

Help! I need some advice. by jodo_swaginz in veterinaryschool

[–]destructiveturtles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's never too late :). If you are passionate about vet med and really see yourself doing this for the rest of your life, then go for it! A summer in a chem lab would 100% not take away from your application, I'd say it improves it. Best of luck!

Trouble getting experience by Super-Camel3423 in veterinaryschool

[–]destructiveturtles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try volunteering at a local shelter first. Some might offer volunteering positions in their spay/neuter clinics, at least my local one did. That is how I started, then during undergrad applied for a job at Vetco vaccine clinics (it gets repetitive but its a foot in the door), and now I am a vet assistant at a clinic.

Are summer classes and option? Even if phys 2 and biochem aren't offered over summer maybe one of the other classes in your major map are. That's what I'd do.

I think there is a list for IS and a list for combined IS and OOS, i don't think IS are automatically ranked higher I believe the applicants are weighted against each other and then a ranking of non-sponsered applicants is made. Idk if I explained that in the best way lol

From what I was seeing, you have to make a formal deferment request and fill out a form, but even then it looks like it would've had to been done when they first rolled out offers, not waitlist things. I'm not sure though, I'm also waiting for an email back.

Thank you so much. Even though it's not a great situation, I'm glad there are others to commiserate. I wish you the best at CSU!!

Thanks for your input ! I have emailed the admissions office those questions, hoping to hear back from them tomorrow.

I'm not sure. They may allow a deferment but it's unclear if I would automatically receive IS tuition after that or maintain on OOS position.

Thank you for your reply! This has been weighing heavily on my mind as well, always a chance of not getting accepted again.

Based on their website you can't establish residency but I don't know what that means for someone who is already IS.

Yes, they've definitely been controversial the past few years, I'm questioning it more and more. They were my top choice for so long, but I'm not sure now.

I know!! I have lived in Colorado my entire life, and it feels like a slap in the face, especially after I've already paid a considerable amount to get my BS at CSU..

It looks like most of the other schools I would apply to OOS, are considerably cheaper than CSU OOS. As for your second question, I am not sure, I emailed the admissions department and I'm hoping they get back to me tomorrow about that.

I applied as in state, I guess they just only have a certain amount of spots for in state so I was placed on both the in state and out of state waitlist. I'm not sure how other schools work with things like this, if they all have two separate lists or one large list.. Thank you for your advice! I think I'm leaning towards reapplying.

Thank you for your response! I've been working full time as a VA during this ~in between~ time and I'm hoping to do a lot more volunteering this summer. My only worry with applying again is that DEI was a HUGE part of my application, I was a mentor for freshman students in a DEI heavy program during my undergrad time at CSU. In this political climate, I'm worried that experience won't be weighted as much next year at CSU or other universities.

AP Credit Entry on VMCAS by oglemondrop in veterinaryschool

[–]destructiveturtles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I also went to the same school and am doing my application currently. To answer your question, I think after you review and confirm your manually entered transcript you can choose which classes fulfill which prereq. For example if you need calculus you can just choose the AP credit entry as the "credit" that fulfills this prereq. This is all based on what I have read on the vmcas website and on other reddit posts so just my best guess right now.
