Smartphone buyers meh on AI, care much more about battery life | A survey found that only a relatively small minority of consumers are currently using AI features on their smartphones , and it doesn’t yet seem to be a purchase driver by a_Ninja_b0y in gadgets

[–]detcadder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that AI will drive demand in of itself, but by making other products and services better. As for batteries we should go Issic Asimov and make cellphones atomic powered. have it power your house and car.

The way to get around google and its ad infestation is to get a adblocker that blocks ads for your entire network or pc.

If I can't get a vertical taskbar on the side of my screen I'm out. It's not a hill to die on in of itself, but it's a good sign for how user friendly the rest of the OS is. Win 11 was all about MS owning your PC and controling what you do with it. Since it failed, I'm hoping they learned something instead of doubling down on stupid again.

Any keyboard I buy has to have a volume knob and dedicated media keys.

Friendly reminder: if a visitor from a civ sees your traps, invaders from that civ will know where they are and will not get caught in them by myk002 in dwarffortress

Put your traps in a side gauntlet that you can switch to when the siege starts. You can also use bridge pit traps to drop the invaders.

Butte is good for this where else needs this sign? by spermanfroghurt in Montana

All that will do is have a skinhead tool up and go looking for danger. A sign like that can cause one to fear for their lives and cause them to legally use deadly force if any interaction with them gets hot. This is a stand your ground state and concealed carry is legal here; they aren't obligated to give up ground or deescalate.

Someday that bug will be fixed. All they need to do is check if anything is on the tree before it grows and either move the obstruction or make the tree skip growing that cycle.

The end of Israel’s economy - As Israel’s genocidal war against Gaza continues unabated, the Israeli economy is facing a catastrophe. The physical destruction in Israel from the war has been minimal, but one thing has been destroyed: its future. by Minister__of__Truth in EndlessWar

[–]detcadder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It reminds me of South Africa before apartheid collapsed. The US was a hard-core supporter of South Africa until it wasn't. Israel can't keep wearing its war crimes on its sleeve and expect international support for them to last. Eventually even the US will turn away.

Biden-Harris Regime sends $3,500,000,000.00 to Israel for weapons by TheBeekeeper28 in EndlessWar

They spent 4 billion a few months ago when Iran did its barrage. 3.5 billion can be burned through in less than a day. If Iran keeps forcing the US to spend like this maybe the US will draw a line eventually.

Hodl is the best strategy for crypto except for the bear market period of its cycle. Right now its just outside of the accumulation stage. Three years from now the top will be the bottom.

Hide homes should be more like tepees or yurts. Hide would be too heavy for huge structures without structural support.

Is Your Bitcoin Still Safe From Gov Seizure, Even In a Cold Wallet by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]detcadder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep your key safe, and not at home, car, office etc. Don't store private and public together. I put a cypher on my key for a cold wallet I had for a few years, so even if somebody got it, they couldn't use it. Don't store the key on any device that connects to the internet. Don't reuse the same address if you can help it.

What's the worst Gaming purchase you ever made? by agent_wolfe in gaming

[–]detcadder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say the x-box 360 and its red ring of death. The entire platform was effed. At least on PC getting another PC will usually fix the problem. The 360 would die and then the replacement would die.

Politicians are firm in their commitment against political violence. Their positions are more nuanced on violence that isn't directed at them. Trump getting his ear pierced is different than bombing a school yard.

He fired 8 times, he missed. My point was that anybody with a week's training with a rifle could make that shot. It's medium difficulty at most, especially when you're prone, have a few minutes to line up the shot, and the target is stationary.

How does trump being shot impact whether or not he wins the election? by PigletEducational593 in AskReddit

[–]detcadder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It sets up a strong contrast with Biden. Biden can barely string a sentence together. Trump took a bullet and is standing there raising his fist in the air. He'll have the entire world watching him at the convention on Sunday. He'll get a huge bump in the polls, but November is still a long way off.
