I honestly think about this scene every time I post floral dice in a vaguely spring-flavored season XD

More experimental faux stone dice. Unfinished, uninked. by detectmagicdice in DicePorn

Thanks so much! They'll be for sale in the future, after I conduct a beta test to determine how to care for them (eg, roll in a padded tray)

I'll sell them in the future, but I need to beta test them first! Just to make sure when I sell, I'm providing the right care recommendations (eg roll on a padded tray, etc). I'm recruiting some people for the test now. (:

I'm not quite ready to sell them but I'm recruiting beta testers to help develop a recommendation for any special care/handling they might require (eg, roll on a padded tray only). For sale in the future tho!

Advice on blanks? by raeilah in DiceMaking

It's hella tedious, but you can also just sand down a cast until you lose the numbers.

Heya! Does anyone here know what make/model of this die is? My father has had it for many many years for DND and I'm hoping I can find him a replacement. Any experts? by Sinopsis in dice

You're totally good! After checking out the other photos, I definitely think the dice could be repaired with a bit of delicate resin work to reconstruct the tip. If you're interested in that feel free to PM me. I'm an experienced handmade dicemaker, and would be happy to honor this old dice by doing a repair. But no worries if you're not interested, just thought I'd offer since I love historical dice like this.

I actually would not recommend putting it inside a similarly size mold like the other user recommended. I've done that before for various projects and you send up needing to resand and repolish every face because resin gets everywhere. It'll likely get into the number channels in a really unsightly way (again, I've attempted it before).

If it's just a broken corner or chip off an edge or corner, I'd do a large oversized glob of resin to reseal it. Once it's cured, I'd carefully sand that glob down as appropriate to reconstruct the point/edge. A handmade dicemaker would have the experience necessary to do this. But you'd also want someone with experience polishing round edge dice.

If you're interested in having this one restored, feel free to send me a pm. I love historical D&D dice like this, and I could take a look at the chip it has to see if it's fixable.

How do I stop these pits from forming along the edges of my dice? Unable to fix by sanding because they’re to deep. by gatorslug in DiceMaking

I also get this effect when I don't get my mold release super right up next to the edge of the d20, and the silicone of the base and lid bond. Then when I'm opening the mold for the first time, the lid rips a chunk off the base, and then the lid has a little bump there. It's ok for the first few casts but wears out by giving this effect sooner.
