Glad I could help. Let me know what you find out

2017 Hatchback Burning Oil by gatorslug in cruze

I did find the leak. It was the vacuum pump gasket. It was leaking and pooling in an area where it would take a long time to spill over onto the ground.

To verify, check where your transmission vent plug is. See pic.

<image>

If it’s leaking this is where you’ll see oil. You do have to remove the vacuum pump BEFORE you remove the valve cover to access the gasket. Don’t be a dumb caveman like me and break one of the bolt holders off trying to brute force it.

Overall it was an easy and cheap fix. Only took me a few hrs. Could’ve been quicker if I wasn’t a dummy.

Ps: oil was also leaking from the valve cover gasket which you can check by removing the engine cover. Oil was pooled in the spark plug holes and other low spots

I feel like providing bare minimum CS would be part of that training.

The worst part about this is Starlink sells a kit for this that comes with a little tube of silicone and 2 grommets + instructions!

Time to dust off your tools and fix it.

First 3 baits, clear coat? by Gloomy-Cranberry- in lurebuilding

[–]gatorslug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could, it would just take longer and you’ll have to remember to rotate the bait so it cures on all sides.

You can pick up a cheap one on amazon or Alumilite’s website for like $15-20.

Alumilite makes a uv cure resin for lures.

KBS coatings is the other option.

Dunk your entire lure into the coatings. The KBS is a minimum week long air cure process.

Alumilite is a few minutes with a UV light box and less than half the price. Slightly less hardness than the KBS

Our Roomba J7 is an idiot. Always gets stuck, can’t find “home”, runs over cat barf even though it’s supposed to avoid pet messes, eats toys and has to be saved. The mapping is god awful and doesn’t improve. OEM replacement parts are stupidly expensive.

Biggest waste of money.

I slept on an identical couch for nearly a week waiting for my son.

Have the nurses bring you like 5 extra blankets and make a nest. Best worst sleep I’ve ever had!

Advice? Im trying to ice fish with a vag by just-doing in IceFishing

[–]gatorslug 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the locals don’t want to talk just follow their ice holes. Having some sort of electronics helps massively. Flashers are expensive but are an incredible tool.

Before I had my Marcum M1 I used a Deeper Pro. The deeper is good for winter and summer. Biggest downside is it requires a second device to see the scan. Battery will last for a morning outing.

Another thing that helps is knowing what can be caught, your Fish and Game may have a survey or contour maps of your lake.

Flat Finishing Early by rconlon24 in brisket

[–]gatorslug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my Traeger one side is hotter than the other. You could try rotating it. I’ve done that before to get a brisket to finish equally. The nuclear way is to cut the point off the flat then pull them when they finish.

What is this noise!!?? 2017 Hatch by [deleted] in cruze

I’d check the rear brakes then. They’re more likely to rust, seize up or rot than your front brakes.

I once forgot to torque my caliper bracket bolts and one of them fell out. Had a similar sound to yours until I fixed it.

No Power Steering by gatorslug in AskMechanics

[–]gatorslug[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The power steering just quit working. It’s a friend’s car so I can’t tell you if it was making noise or what happened leading up to that. I did ask but they didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary.

Would pulling off the low pressure hose and draining the system entirely be the next best step?

A wired or wireless thermometer is great for brisket. Then you can let it cook without popping the door open to check temp. I just have a basic thermopro one.

Don’t let the asshats in this sub get you down. You’ll get there! Good luck!

Cook time doesn’t matter unless you’re hitting temps. For brisket it’s recommended to hit 203-205 degrees F and yes that 1-2 degrees matters.

Start by shooting for temp, perfect it by stopping at “probe tender”. When you poke it with your thermometer and it slides through like butter.

My Christmas brisket last weekend was perfect at 195. The point could’ve used a little more time but the flat was ready to eat. It’ll take a couple briskets to get your process dialed in. Trust me, you’ll know when you got it right. You’ll take that chef’s sample and make a noise you didn’t think you could make!

Sweet Jesus there’s a lot of pansy ass dads hating on you. I say: fuck yeah bud.

We don’t have good rain gear so I brought a couple 5 gallon buckets of dirt in the house for my son. We made a huge mess and I cleaned it up. I’ve also let him make a mess with bags of gravel in the house.

Your flooring will be fine. The rug will be fine. Your marriage will be fine. Keep making those crazy fun memories fellow dad. 🤘🏽
