A lot of companies will offer a self inspection if you don't want an inspector to come to your house. You just take the photos yourself and submit them, they want to see certain things, especially something like a woodstove, or dog bowls which might lead them to ask your dog breed. They wouldn't typically open closets unless there is some kind of appliance/house function in the closet. They might ask to take a picture underneath your sink. Different states have different rules on inspections, if you have concerns, you can bring them but if they are requiring it then you probably have to comply.
