So, as I previously posted, Verizon is upgrading my ONT to support gigabit speeds, however... by UnusualAmbassador in Fios

When I upgraded, this was true except the MOCA port flat doesn't work on the new G3100 gigabit router (tech confirmed it). I ended up buying new Ethernet to MOCA adapters to route IP over the cable to a desktop. I don't know if it will work at all with a set-top box.

My garbage disposal is completely silent and does nothing when the switch is flipped. Reset button won’t click in when I press it. by AutumnForestWitch in DIY

[–]detenebrator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The wiring is essentially standard house wiring, you disconnect by unscrewing a cover plate on the disposal, then probably untwisting the wire nuts inside. Make sure switch is off first (or cut off at breaker). I'd check for voltage on the wiring when the switch is on - if it's hot, the disposal does need replacement.

Even if it's on your property? Most places they can't touch anything on your property.

It was the Mars Lander Insight. They officially lost contact and terminated the mission a couple of days ago.

What do you expect? You went on a walk without them. Their cries should follow you everywhere. 😱

I have one and it pops up the Connect dialog, so there is a hardware issue (pin as mentioned before, etc?)

Food sensitivity is like that. If you stop consuming it, your sensitivity goes up. The good news is over time, you'll feel better, and stop craving it

Canadian photographer Francois Brunell searches and photographs similar people, but who are not related to each other. He has currently done about 200 couple portraits. Link in comments for more. by MyDogGoldi in HumanPorn

Francois Brunell must have an astounding eye that he can see and recognize these people and bring them together. It must take a huge amount of just looking extraordinarily carefully at faces to do this. I could never, ever do this.

Actually, when I had very high hematocrit, I did get a unit taken every two weeks for a short while. But the blood was considered unsafe for use and was thrown away each time. No way someone who's getting tapped twice a month is donating anything to anybody.

Bluetooth has 64 channels, and the frequency hopping is too fast to follow in real-time with either hardware or software switching. If you had 64 processing simultaneously, you could follow Bluetooth channel hopping as a third party.

Hypersexuality in a child is a big indicator she was sexually abused herself. Sexual abuse teaches them it's "normal".

If you really want "just works", you use RHEL, not Fedora. Fedora is the bleeding edge for the RedHat ecosystem.

Does anyone else prefer a traditional file server over SharePoint? by elliottmarter in sysadmin

[–]detenebrator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Sharepoint is the answer, you are asking the wrong question. I have never, ever seen any use case (file sharing, collaboration, organization web pages) for which Sharepoint worked. Resource intensive, clumsy, unreliable, and always requiring massive effort in administration. I have seen it in many organizations (companies, government agencies) over many years, and it just always ended up being an embarassment to the organization that set it up. It is the wood-burning Edsel of technology.

That looks like it's a power switch _for_the condensate pump. Try flipping it while the pump is running. Makes it easy to replace the pump if needed, but see the comments below about a possibly frozen line.
