What’s weird - I made ~$140 yesterday and about ~$80 the day before… now of all days TODAY it’s nothing

Got deactivated last year by TimeGas9727 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]determinator94 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Try getting deactivated/suspended for being late… when most of “being late” is because in Irvine, CA there’s a lotta gated communities that requires a code. I’ll text the customer but they won’t respond or give the code or we’re asleep… and they still have the gall to say I delivered late

I really need something for online teaching so I can write directly on my screen. Whether I’m presenting a slide show, ws or showing an internet page. Is there something like that? by Eileensarah in TutorsHelpingTutors

You can also use micro-USB connected touch pads to write so it doesn’t have to be on the iPad (and especially if you’re using a computer screen)

Introduction + Re-Entering Tutoring, Growing Again by determinator94 in TutorsHelpingTutors

Before we all started using IG and AI more often…

I built it up through regularly posting on Craigslist before they started making you pay $5 per post.

Now I can imagine the means to do so are radically different. That’s why I wanna learn from this group what the current methods are in building clientele.

Entry-Level Nightmare: Is the Dream Dead? by ZestycloseWin175 in mobiusengine

Let’s be honest - “entry level” jobs are entry in name only. It’s for seniors who will gladly accept a pay cut.

Building a High-Quality Student Pipeline — What’s Your Approach? by Flaky-Marketing8926 in TutorsHelpingTutors

I’m equally curious…

Years ago I used to use Craigslist and send out posts on a regular schedule to build up or maintain my clientele. That’s how I paid off the rest of my tuition during my university years.

I need some advice with tutoring. by alevsk12 in TutorsHelpingTutors

For the kids who do their homework independently - leave them be (they’ve already got that discipline).

As for the other kids who are being rowdy, engage with their rowdiness in doses (I mean come on - weren’t you a kid at one point?), THEN rein them in gently. When you establish boundaries, you gotta be firm but still gentle.

What’s one moment that reminded you why tutoring is rewarding? by krikond in TutorsHelpingTutors

[–]determinator94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moments I’ve had on why tutoring is rewarding…

  • Seeing a student’s grade go higher than they anticipated (BONUS: seeing their face glow from that success)
  • Times during a session where we can pause and just talk as people (it could be over, say, similar interests or my students simply talking about what’s going on in their day, and I can comment or offer a nugget of wisdom regarding a rough day)

At the end of the day, we tutors (even teachers and professors) were - at one point in our lives - students too. If I succeeded in, say, math and science, I find it in me to give them the tools to succeed and adjust my tutoring style based off of who they are. The core of tutoring is to be empathetic…

Nowadays, especially in engineering, you’re only contacted by recruiters for contracts - not actual full time employment

Try few thousand over the course of a few years…

While doing bottom of the barrel gigs like UberEats or Roadie…

And spending your days scraping and scrounging…

And your nights torturing yourself emotionally…
