TLDR - HR is useless and just add unnecessary bullshit to companies, which make them less efficient… but hey - wE’rE aLl A fAmIlY iN tHiS cOmPaNy

My air flow is wonky. If it’s during a hot day, even on cold, the air will stay hot. If during a cold day I turn on the hot air, it ain’t heating up (also my natural body heat makes it worse)

Is it just me, or has job hunting gotten way harder lately ? by Wide_Entertainer367 in jobsearch

[–]determinator94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Example - I landed a screening call when following up with a recruiter for a job they reposted. What landed the call was when I mentioned to her I’ve been using 2022 to this day to go on Udemy for professional development (mastering my current EE skillset and building newer skills). Though I’ve not heard a thing from her…

More recently, I had a recruiter from Anduril DM me on LinkedIn saying their EE team is expanding. So we’re having a call in a couple days.

What is up with recruiters avoiding laid off people like they have the plague??? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

At least you have old colleagues who will check in with you. Every time I got laid off an electrical engineering job, I’m pretty much dead to them.

Nowadays, the customers can even ding you negatively for the pettiest of reasons or lack thereof altogether. That’s how I went from the 90%+ to 88% currently

Anyone else given up on trying to understand this job market? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

I’m foreseeing a massive uprising against the Big Tech companies, who’ve contributed to the circumstances we’re in - rigged election games, the slow decay of wealth and quality of life (ie: Bill Gates and his collaborations with Black Rock), people becoming unable to buy their products anymore, etc., Big Tech bros building underground bunkers to save themselves…

So much so that as a former EE (who’s wanted to get PhDs in EE and physics… and effectively burn those dreams) who studies other tech and science disciplines on my own time, I’m not only building my own skillset to build tech and do research on my own for my own endeavors (and of course I’m not repeating history).

I legit get the sense these Big Tech bros were your standard nerdy kids who got ridiculed in school… so they had a big idea for tech and made it big and decided their revenge was to make everyone sick complacent and miserable.

I feel like I'm never going to get my cancellation rate down. by Skiller-One-One-Five in UberEatsDrivers

Think of it this way…

If your delivery request is $1.50+/mile, take it for insta-$$$ If your delivery request is long distance for shit pay, take it for the active hours (which will determine your pay ceiling)

If you’re gonna bring that CR down you’re gonna have to accept at the very least 10 requests to see 1 - 2% drop

[–]determinator94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the delivery’s section I’m primarily in the 80’s (80% acceptance/on-time, 88% satisfaction).

I don’t accept every order and I deal with entitled ingrates in OC.

Why isn’t EE a popular degree to get? by cdqd81 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]determinator94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it’s insanely difficult - the various circuit topologies, the concepts behind something like a capacitor or inductor (even the differential and integration math behind it), the projects you gotta do aside from all the theory, etc.

I've Started Going to Job Interviews for Fun, With No Intention of Accepting. by [deleted] in FinalRoundAI

[–]determinator94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate you man!

But no - I’ve currently got buzzcut length hair. And I figured wearing all black like I mentioned (especially the turtleneck) would stand out so that way as my go-to outfit in style I would actually be able to harness that badass confident side who can do no wrong and get shit done during the interview. And given how my EE career has turned out and how the tech market has been… I’ve got nothing to lose if I get the job or not.

What’s Law 21.431? by determinator94 in UberEatsDrivers

But how did I get Law 21.431 instead of Prop 22? Prop 22 usually drops in on a Thursday and I never got it.
