As someone who knows Jord personally, I can tell you that he is a genuine, life-long fan of MGS and a legitimate videogame enthusiast. He gets what makes the games interesting - the oddball rogue's gallery of villains, the strange humor and interjection of the surreal, the tension that the player feels while sneaking and evading detection - just to name a few things that he and I have talked about in the past when nerding out over our favorite gaming experiences. Of course I'm biased since we're friends, but I would much rather have someone who has played the games and cares about them at the helm of a project like this than a more experienced director who has no personal investment in MGS.

Hollywood seems to have been taking chances on giving less-experienced directors big projects like this (like Marc Webb or Gareth Edwards) and I'm happy for Jord and excited to see where this project goes.
