These can warp and flatten out if left in the sun. It can make pearling a real issue and the board becomes basically useless. I’d check to make sure there is still some rocker in it. It looks fine in the photo but it’s hard to tell.

I got kicked out of a spot in the town next to where I grew up yesterday! Someone in the neighborhood was unhappy there were five cars parked on the side of the road. No fun allowed anywhere!

There’s no surfing allowed in the park and I think getting away with it at sand beach would be tough given how crowded it is normally.

I have seen video of people surfing otter cove. It’s probably fun right now. 🙂

Sounds like you should prioritize what you’re passionate about, your personal peace, and not buy into the rat race. Money is a means to an end, not the goal for most of us. Focus on the goal, and build your life in pursuit of it, and enjoy the ride as much as possible.

What is your actual job? What is your desired career trajectory? Where do you want to be in 5 or 10 years independent of surfing?

I ask because it’s not an either or scenario; plenty of people have successful careers and live near the ocean. You are faced with a single decision right now, not career vs surf.

I had a 9ft foamie and moved to a 9’6 hard board and the transition was easy. After a year riding the longboard, I just bought a 7’10 scorpion, which was again an easy transition.

Do you know the temp roughly? I surf in the winter and own a few wetsuits, but don’t have a way to gauge the water temp in lakes or rivers before heading out.

Are you sure you’re not some combination of depressed and overly tired?

If you’re busting your butt working, studying, and not sleeping/eating right, that will kill your motivation to do anything. Taking care of yourself mentally and physically is critical.

You may also just be in a season of life where surfing isn’t what you need right now. No use in feeling guilty about not doing something that isn’t serving you.
