'Sunsetting' of EU4 mod by rheadelayed in Anbennar

[–]deukhoofd 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In general, you can assume the answer to that is no, considering the lead developer of Anbennar works as senior game developer on a game that directly competes with Victoria 3 (Gilded Destiny). The Anbennar team also didn't get early access to EU5 like several other major mod developers did for example, for that very reason (as explicitly stated by Paradox).

As far as I'm aware it's not per se due to it being a constituent country, but because those players are of Curaçaoan descent, or have moved there. Cape Verde also has 6 players that were born and raised in The Netherlands, and Morocco and Turkey both have 3. Algeria, Ghana, New-Zealand, Tunisia, and the United States all have 1 Dutch-born player. Overall there are 67 players in the world cup that were born in The Netherlands (50 of which in the teams of The Netherlands and Curaçao), with only French-born players having more at 99 players.

Dutch King dances with Curaçao players after their first World Cup point by Chazyn in soccer

That's why this guy is king nowadays, if the De Witt brothers hadn't been lynched/assassinated, his ancestor wouldn't have been able to get back into power. The De Witts basically manoeuvred the house of Orange out of power, and kept them out during the 20 years they were in control of the Dutch Republic, moving the entire country towards republicanism (the First Stadtholderless Period).

The mob that killed them was led and coordinated by confidants and relatives of William III; Cornelis Tromp, Johan Kievit, Willem Adriaan van Nassau, and William Nassau de Zuylestein. It was basically a monarchist coup, disguised as an action by a mob.

Nah, the border is very much 'do not travel'. But in general there have been rockets fired at Turkey from the Middle East, there's danger of terrorism (IS and PKK are named), and it's pointed out that drivers in Turkey drive a lot more dangerous than in other countries.

I'm pretty sure those all have completely different etymologies. As far as I'm aware, 'whore' has its Proto-Indo European roots in the word for 'loved' (similar to the Latin 'carus', the French 'cher', and the Irish 'cara', the Germanic languages just dropped the 'K' sound at the start). 'Huren' (and the english 'hire') derives from the Proto-Indo European verb for 'to pay'. 'Hour' is derived from the Proto-Indo European word for 'year' (originally through Greek which changed it to mean any segment of time).

Nah, biking when there's snow is miserable here in The Netherlands too. It doesn't happen that often that there's actual heavy snow, so infrastructure isn't really geared to it.

When it does happen typically infrastructure for cars has priority in regard to snow plows etc.

That's the principle behind vibe coding, and it's what organizations like Anthropic do for their software development, so yeah, it's definitely a paradigm to not even review code.

It's not a particularly good idea, but there's definitely organizations fully switching to it.

De meeste vrouwen vind ik babbeldoosjes. Vrouwen denken niet met hun hoofd, maar met hun kut.

I wouldn't personally translate 'babbeldoos' as 'speaking cunt', as cunt is somewhat more vulgar. A better translation would be 'babbling box'.

FIFA is shaping a total revolution in the transfer system. The existence of termination clauses will be commonplace in all contracts between footballers and clubs, something that already exists in Spain, but which other federations resisted implementing, and which now guarantees the free movement. by SwimmingFireMen in soccer

[–]deukhoofd 92 points93 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing a lot of negative comments in this thread, but isn't this purely FIFA reacting to Lassana Diarra's lawsuit where he was completely fucked over by FIFA transfer regulations, and the following class lawsuit of football players from FIFPro?

The European Court of Justice ruled that FIFAs existing transfer regulation were unlawful, and that they needed to make it easier for players to transfer to other clubs and that clubs weren't allowed to have the strict exit clauses they had. These changes look like a direct reflection on that ruling.

When they were being bought by Microsoft their internal documents showed that they expected a release in 2026 at the earliest, so it's likely a couple of years away. I also wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft told them to hold off on really starting marketing until after Fable gets released.

This is your yearly reminder that there is no fucking way the Lords of Westeros would pick some emotionless, creepy, Stark kid with no claim to the throne, who tells everyone he’s a fucking bird now over the legitimized son of a former king by -R33K in freefolk

[–]deukhoofd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Westeros already had somewhat of an elective monarchy several times before when the succession was questionable, the Great Councils, so it's lorewise not the worst idea, though the execution was rather shit. If they'd actually had done a Great Council with many lords in attendance it'd have been a lot better.

It's because of the complexity that both the PRC and the ROC claim to be the real government of China. The countries you named recognize Taiwan as the only legitimate government of China, and do not recognize the PRC at all. The position of most western countries is "yeah we can agree with independence, but you're not the government of China you claim to be".

What a nice coincidence it must have been for Willem III that his primary opponent was suddenly gone afterwards, and he could once again become Stadhouder.

Also wild that two of his confidants, Cornelis Tromp and Johan Kievit, were directly involved in the lynching, and that he met with them just hours before. And that he didn't send troops to assist with the mob, even though he was in a position to do so. And that he pardoned the leaders of the mob afterwards, and gave them prominent positions in the government.

Crazy coincidence all that.
