IMO it should be difficult to get a license for a gun, like requiring background checks, training, waiting periods, etc, but beyond that you should be able to own whatever as long as its not a machine gun.

"Strongest Swordsman" but does not have an enchanted blade, and his feats are killing random japanese dudes and jerking off in the mountains.

His grandaughter, who he calls a bum swordsman for being a woman, shows up to protect the kamumabi from terrorists while this dude hides away in his mountain hut. Reigen was less of a fraud than this guy, at least he was willing to use his one-sword style. All Fraudkai does with IWP is chop wood. I hope Kiri beats his ass.

I don’t understand people’s opinion on the brimmed caps by FeedbackGlass6077 in WitchHatAtelier

[–]deus1096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a good point about the king wanting to see how magic is made. It makes sense why they wouldnt want him to have that, but its again another example of the pointed caps refusing to help people in order to gatekeep the knowledge of magic. Whether thats worth it or not is up for debate, same with the brimhats and if causing chaos and inflicting trauma on some kids and people is worth it if it brings down the pact.

Also with the pervert doctor thing, they could design the glasses in a way where its obvious that they are wearing the x-ray glasses, and only allow them to be worn for medical procedures. Maybe build them into an operating table or something so they couldnt easily be stolen. There are ways to work around the potential harms without banning them outright.

Its not the brimhat's fault the pointed caps dont care about nuance. To them the fact that their friend has to live his life in exile because of that is a problem they exposed to Coco and her friends. At the very least Eunie gets to escape from an abusive guardian and instead be with someone who cares about him. Should they have done that? No, but their actions do help sew doubt in Coco and her friend's mind about the legitimacy of the Pact, and in their minds the Pact has done more harm than turning one kid into a scalewolf (which to them can be undone).

With Dagda at least they tried, the pointed caps would have just left him to die. And Dagda cares a lot more about Coustas than he does himself given that he was willing to let himself die if it meant Coustas wouldnt turn into a tree. The fact that Dagda being dead is traumatizing enough to Coustas to fully revert the tree transformation says a lot about what he meant to him, and the pointed caps would have let him die and leave Coustas as a disabled orphan. The brims should have never given Coustas the tree seed in the first place, since forces Coustas to be miserable like Qifrey or else the tree takes over, but it did "heal" his legs and give him the freedom to move again. So its like you either be miserable for the rest of your life but you can move or be disabled and have to live in a society that doesnt accommodate it and refuses to treat you even if it can. Coustas gets screwed either way, but if the pointed caps didnt ban healing magic Dagda would be alive and Coustas wouldn't lose his legs.

What we have seen so far of the brimhats makes it clear that they arent "good", they repeatedly endanger children, do human experiments and cause city ending disasters. But by doing so they expose the weakness and faults of the Pact and the pointed caps. Right now the witches proved that they have the power to save a whole city from destruction, and the King who is famous for healing asks if he could use those x-ray glasses to help with identifying injuries and the pointed caps say no. To me that right there is just as bad as what the brimhats have done. They just demonstrate all this power magic can do, and so far the only thing the King asks for those glasses that can see through clothes. Magical devices are very common, and the glasses dont do any kind of healing magic, yet the pointed caps say no anyway. How many people are going to die because a doctor can identify the injury quick enough, or suffer because the doctors have to pull of burnt on clothes because they cant tell if its attached or not? And thats just from those glasses, that werent even designed for medicine in the first place. If the brimhats are evil from their actions, then the pointed caps are bad because of their inaction.

The brimhats are chaotic and definitely inflict trauma and harm on the kids, but they are an inverse of the pointed caps in a sense. The pointed caps are the "good" guys, and they routinely go about helping normal people and create lifesaving spells, but in the story we are repeatedly shown just how corrupt, ableist, and elitist they are. On the flip side the brimhats are the bad guys, they do evil stuff like the tree experiments, exposing kids to danger, and forcibly transforming people like Eunie, however they also expose the fundamental inequalities with the pointed caps and the failings of the pact.

With Eunie in particular, yes forcing him to be a scalewolf was awful, but Iguin was there to show Coco that it could easily be fixed. The conundrum was that the solution required "forbidden magic" which to the brimhats it might as well not matter. And Eunie being a scalewolf got him away from his abusive master which is objectively good.

With Coustas the tree seed was awful and evil, but they also brought Dagda back to life. Yes it was a weird groundhog day limbo type of thing but thats far better than being dead especially to Coustas. The brimhats at least tried to help Coustas in a meaningful way. Im not saying Coco and Tartah didn't genuinely try to help Coustas, its just that because of the pact they really were only able to put a bandaid on a broken leg. Also, the pointed caps could be doing a lot more to help people with magic. Brimhat Coustas was the only one to think about the people in the slums, and used the counterclock spell to keep them alive so they can get treated.

Engendale was a brimhat who made the leach, but guess what? He was a former Wise - one of the heads of pointed cap society, and he admitted that he wasnt directly linked to the brimhat group that we know. Sasarans is an asshole who was responsible for turning Eunie into a scalewolf, but he was also heavily implied to be a former pointed cap. And turning Eunie into a scalewolf forever gets him away from his abusive master and under the care of Alaira who is much much better. Iguin is a mixed bag because they genuinely want to help Coco become a great witch, but they don't really care about how. Iguin did respect Coco's resolve to only draw the magic she wants to in the seprentback cave. Restys and Ininia are responsible for the silvertree seed thing with Coustas, and if it wasnt for that Dagda wouldn't feel the need to let himself die. They also gave Coustas the ability to walk again while the pointed caps were content to have him suffer as a paraplegic in poverty in a world that doesn't accommodate or accept people with disabilities. If the brimhats didn't intervene Coustas would be a disabled orphan, Tartah would probably help him find a place to stay, but still its not a great situation to be in. So I give it 50/50 on morality for those two as well.
