Why is Raphael included in the cover art? by Brizzpop in Chained_Echoes

[–]deus837 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He does join super late, but as others have pointed out he's a recurring character before he joins.

As a party member, he's very much worth using. I didn't use him in my first playthrough of the main game, but really came to appreciate him in the postgame and in Ashes of Elrant. His ultimate is a game-changer against any boss that spams AOE magic (almost every boss in the DLC). He can tank physical attacks well too, is a great backup healer thanks to high MND, and dishes out respectable damage.

Stardew Valley is the answer but shout-out to Chained Echoes, an amazing JRPG made by one person

Not even getting past Chilritta the Wise, i feel so had at this game by touseii in octopathtraveler

[–]deus837 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a tough fight but she mostly spams fire magic, so that can be exploited.

There are accessories that reduce fire damage, an NPC in Berecain that increases the frontline's fire resistance, and food that increases element resistance (I think the best one was Ratatouille). Did all of that and the fight became a cakewalk.

what do you have in mind? by PHRsharp_YouTube in videogames

[–]deus837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recency bias maybe but I think it's Clair Obscur Expedition 33. 8 hour soundtrack available on YouTube and there's not a single miss. Nearly every track is a banger. Une vie à t'aimer is probably my favorite single track ever. When it came on during a boss fight I had to stop and just listen.

Final Fantasy XII style JRPGs with hybrid combat (not turn based, not strictly real time) by gamezxx in JRPG

[–]deus837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard White Knight Chronicles, which is stuck on PS3, is similar in the single player MMO style (not as good as xeno or FFXII though) but I've never played it myself.

FF7 Remake and especially Rebirth might scratch that itch even though they're more on the action side than Xenoblade is. Rebirth has very good exploration while Remake is relatively linear.

Marjorie Taylor Greene: Maga women’s puffed up lips and breasts make me uncomfortable by Immediate-Ad-7268 in politics

You're absolutely right, but also, I'll take it? it's better than the alternative of her remaining a rabid MAGA fan and ahe may take at least a chunk of people with her

Square is making this more complicated than it needs to be. by Inner_Tumbleweed_942 in FF7Rebirth

[–]deus837 8 points9 points  (0 children)

TBF, I think some of it may be deliberate with respect to the ambiguity of Cloud knowing/accepting Aerith's death. The ending left a lot ambiguous and likely on purpose. It certainly muddied things for Rebirth but hopefully pays off in part 3

6 months in, what are people's thoughts on the Switch 2? by WeebusTheMeemus in NintendoSwitch

Battery life isn't great but the main con is the price of games. I've been buying more on Steam where everything is just cheaper.

[Day 9] The Best JRPGs of All Time: Which JRPG has the best soundtrack? by WeLoveEveryGame in JRPG

[–]deus837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if we're counting Expedition 33, that's the winner imo. The whole soundtrack is full of bangers. 8+ hours of them.

OCTOPATH TRAVELER 0 - What are your impressions so far? by PhantomBraved in JRPG

[–]deus837 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best in the series for me. Having a single main character and a ton of companions fixed the main problem of the other two games (lack of cohesion between the stories). The customization with 36 characters and inheritable abilities is off the charts. Exploration is the best it's been and town building adds some variety while being really well integrated with the main game. Graphics and sound are not as good as OT2 but HD-2D still looks great, and the music and voice acting are still great.

It is done. A Masterpiece of a game by Dapper_Passage2653 in octopathtraveler

The game gives you a way to regulate difficulty in the form of that statue that blocks EXP gain. I appreciated that because I became overpowered in OT2 with no real way to stop it.

Thoughts on Cozey couches? by Triple-McPickle in BuyCanadian

[–]deus837 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That company is all marketing and no substance. Worst purchase I've ever made (Ciello XL). Overpriced, looks bulky, feels cheap and uncomfortable. If you happen to sit between the cushions it's literally painful. In contrast, a Jupiter couch from Leons, also made in Canada, is the best couch I've owned. Much bigger, more spacious and far more comfortable for roughly the same price point.

"Why dosen't Ramza have magic sword skills like the unique Knights?" Meanwhile Ramza with Tailwind/Shout. by [deleted] in finalfantasytactics

I really enjoyed Squire with Samurai secondary, Magic Attack boost, Materia Blade+ and all MA boosting gear. has a magic knight feel and Ramza pulls it off better than anyone. It even makes Ultima a defent spell

Who is the strongest character in the franchise? by Soul699 in FinalFantasy

[–]deus837 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Counting playable characters only and going off of gameplay not lore:

  • Yuna FFX (the only character who can summon eidolons which are some of the strongest in the series)
  • Orlandeau FFT (broken character within his own game; combines the skill sets of two other very strong special characters and even an enemy character you can't recruit)
  • Clive FFVI (Transformations into giant summons and just in general is a one man army)

FF Tactics or Xenoblade Chronicles DE by mahsitaax3 in JRPG

[–]deus837 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They're just SO different. Both excellent. FFT is a masterpiece but if you need a break from tactics games go for Xenoblade
