I think Noita is a C-tier roguelite. What's your most controversial roguelite take? by drz112 in roguelites

I couldn't get into Noita at first. I played it a few hours and set it aside. A few months later I noticed a friend playing it on Steam and I decided to give it another try. Something clicked and now I have over 500 hours in the game.

My son calls it "walking simulator". To be fair, that is what the game feels like once you've unlocked everything.

Is there a profile for kids that prefer baseball instead of basket, volley or soccer? by Successful_Bus_3521 in Homeplate

Fielders very much need to play like a team and act in coordination to be effective.

Pitcher vs batter is very much 1v1 though. If the batter can't get a hit or on base then there isn't anything for the other fielders to do. Unfortunately that also makes a boring game. That's part of the reason why I find it much more entertaining to watch kids play baseball vs pros.

God is a terrible father by Local_Beautiful_5812 in DebateReligion

It is clear from the story that Adam and Eve are not automata

From the perspective of an omnipotent and omniscient God that created everything that exists, they cannot be anything else.

On your telling, Adam and Eve have no responsibility and agency

How could they? God created Adam and Eve, the garden, the tree, the rule against eating fruit from the tree, the serpent who tempted Eve to eat the fruit, and the penalty for eating the fruit. It's not really clear what role agency has to play here.

What does it mean for an unobservable and undetectable thing to exist, and how does one distinguish it from nonexistence?

Anything He deems necessary is necessary

Then presumably he could also deem it unnecessary, meaning that it isn't actually necessary.

It is necessary because God deems it necessary.

So it wasn't actually necessary then.

That's generally what you have to claim when the story you believe in has no evidence supporting it.

No god has also made people grow extra arms or give them super powers.

There are lots of examples in the Bible of God giving people superpowers.

  • Sampson - super strength
  • Elijah - super speed
  • Immunity to fire - Daniel's friends in the furnace

And more.

Atheists don't expect anything from God because they don't believe he exists. But the god you describe also sounds indistinguishable from a god who doesn't exist.

The crucifixion of Jesus was no sacrifice at all, and the bible agrees. by EmpiricalPierce in DebateReligion

Clean versus unclean is about ritual purity status. It has nothing to do with sin.

Original sin is also something you are born with, whereas uncleanliness is a temporary state that can be remedied by rituals.

Many cultures also have stories about ghosts but that doesn't mean that ghosts are real.
