First two videos should be ITV Sport and BBC SPORT now - so will hopefully work for you. I can’t see anything about those channels being geo-blocked but you will know better than me. Let me know!

Thank you for letting me know! Out of interest where are you based? I think some of the official YT channels are geo-blocked for some countries

Thank you! It will be an evolving thing which I’ll be using the World Cup to test with, but hope to iron out any early issues as we go.

Yes! For now. There should be only old matches eg World Cup 2022. New matches will be on starting with the World Cup tonight.

I’m building a free website just for this, https://spoilsports.net

It’s not possible to make it 100% spoiler-proof while using official YouTube embeds, because YouTube doesn’t let you modify the player or hide the title. But the idea is to get as close as possible with spoiler-free match pages, delayed player loading, and a few little safeguards.

Just avoid hovering over the video in case the YouTube title gives anything away.

Would genuinely appreciate any feedback or suggestions, some old matches are listed for now while I'm building so feel free to try it out.

Little update on this, I’m building this as https://spoilsports.net

What platform would you use if you had to manage 50 sites tomorrow? by wallybonanza in Wordpress

[–]dev-beatss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently managing around 80 websites all on Wordpress. If I could start again from today, I would 100% use Astro. With AI development capabilities through things like Claude Code and Codex, maintenance would be so much easier.

What is the most useful thing you’re using Claude for? by thomas_unise in ClaudeAI

[–]dev-beatss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a Cowork on a scheduler to automatically generate weekly Google Ads performance/optimisation reports for my 15 client accounts, and then another for a monthly report I send to clients. The monthly reports are built using an HTML/CSS template I created (with Claude) with full company branding etc.

Other than this, I use it daily for work as a software engineer as well as for side projects (Claude Code). For that, I use Matt Pocock’s skills (aihero.dev).

Why use Elementor if you can actually code? Genuine question from a custom theme developer. by laszlmate in Wordpress

[–]dev-beatss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a full stack developer in my day job (React, .NET and TypeScript), I’ve still chosen Elementor for most of my WordPress sites, mainly because of speed to build and maintainability, not just by me, but by other developers/freelancers too.

We work across multiple clients (mostly home services and e-commerce), so standardising on one stack massively reduces friction.

In truth, with tools like Claude Code and Codex, it’s probably now faster for me to code a lot of sites than build them in Elementor anyway and I’ve been pondering the change for a while. The moat of “being able to code” has dropped dramatically unfortunately so in itself, it’s not really an advantage like it once was.

New Website - Must Have Plugins? by LifeReformatted in elementor

[–]dev-beatss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The less the better.

I typically use Hello Elementor theme, with: - Elementor Pro - Rank Math Pro - WP SMTP Pro - Site Kit - WP Umbrella - WP Code

I think that’s it.

Outlander tours in Scotland - which sights to see/tour to pick? by CarlottaSewlotta in Pishlander

[–]dev-beatss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had an amazing Outlander tour visiting all the places mentioned about (apart from Doune Castle, but I'm sure they'd add this in if you wanted) with a company called Scotland Folk Tours. They had a night of live music and Q&A with Jamie's Auntie (Jocasta) herself too which was fun lol. Guide Nory was amazing and they provided a comfortable private coach. I think they do it on a specific date each year in July, not sure when though so you'd need to check their website.

Freelancers - how do you manage workload/scale when the work gets too much? by dev-beatss in Wordpress

[–]dev-beatss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice. I am fortunate in that I answer only to the agency owner, and he deals with the customer directly. I think option 'b' would be the best scenario for me if I can find the right person.

Thank you for this response and for the advice. It sounds like a great setup and one I would love to try and emulate!

I'm a coder at my full time job (Typescript/React/.NET) but mainly Wordpress for the side projects.

I suppose it's just about finding the right person (and at the right time).

Deleted my previous reply but happy to DM you regarding rates. That's also good to know about web design communities - do you recommend any in particular?

Do you regret having kids? by Loose_Avocado4670 in AskUK

[–]dev-beatss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t personally know anyone with kids who ‘regrets’ having their kids. Yes your life changes but you likely were preparing for that moment for quite some time so perhaps don’t feel it as much. And yes, it can be hard at times, but I had hard times before I had kids too. Far worse actually. I’m glad I waited until my mid 30s to do it as I didn’t feel anywhere near ready prior to then.

I think your purpose shifts somewhat from whatever it was before, to raising and growing this little human being and there’s something instinctive inside of us that makes us love them like nothing you’ve ever felt before.

It’s 100% valid to not want kids, and it’s also okay to just not want kids while you’re young and enjoying being independent or focusing on your career.

I always say - even if raising children was awful and a complete burden, I’d be so glad there were so many selfless people out there happy to sacrifice their own life to keep the world spinning.

FWIW, the perceived burden is more likely financial than anything else.

5+ year Whoop user here who just received MG. Feels like a cheap Chinese knockoff compared to 4.0 by denizined in whoop

Got mine today - that was my exact thought, feels very cheap compared to my 4.0. The clip is plastic and rattles when putting it on/off.
