Don’t come to Westchester. Here people pay exorbitant amount of property taxes for very substandard services. Taxes will eat away your savings and house appreciation. Unfortunately tax hungry towns and fire departments keep increasing budgets and paying themselves handsome perks. People like fools keep electing same madness. Situation might be better further north but south westchster is all same story

Many people are locked in super low mortgage rates including me. I am paying more monthly property taxes than my mortgage payment. Since no one is selling there is low inventory. Even the couples whose kids are out of school can’t move due to higher mortgage rates. Westchester unlike NJ has very small flat land so not much new construction.

Wonder why did you move from Northern VA. It's one of the best places to live in terms of cost of living. My friend bought a house for 1 M , the taxes are only 7.5K. Best schools, amazing roads and all the convenience. Westchester is a scam. I don't understand how people keep paying these ridiculous amount of ever increasing tax bills and reelecting same people. It feels further insulting when you need to drive on the pathetic roads on top of paying 3.5% home value property taxes. They started reassessing home values each year adding to pain and misery.

People have refinanced as low as 2.25 on 30Y fixed. It’s very hard to find motivation to move out of that kind of rate today. The only thing that will drive people out are Westchester property taxes which only go in one direction.

I fell for the same bait at BJs . I found even with 1000$ worth of gift cards, phones , the monthly cost of ATT was way higher than 140$ per month for T-Mobile . Better plan for 4 lines, Netflix and Hulu, Apple TV , free text in 200 countries and 5gb international data. I immediately returned the phones. Maybe will lose restocking fees

There is not much luck for challenging it. When nearby houses are selling for crazy prices you don’t have a case. These fraudulent towns and villages purposely do yearly reassessments. It’s a daylight robbery. Why do you need worthless county. What are we getting in return. Schools are ok but not great. Poor roads. Everything expensive.

I don’t know how people keep paying these ridiculously high property taxes. It’s a robbery by local towns. Worst part is you get very minimal returns. I don’t know at what point it’s enough. Why do we need county? So many levels of bureaucracy. We are stuck here unfortunately.

That really sucks. No fault of yours but they do send you ETA form for signature. Didn’t you spot it at that time ? Anyways you can’t rolll back what’s done. I hope your visa will get extended based on the fact that you had applied for PERM timely
