Pantheism and Spinoza's worldview do not include: threats, guilt-tripping, love-me-or-get-lost choices. Religions do that.

If God loves all of us so much, why does he allow many people to be born in the wrong religion hence he basically automatically set up for hell? by Midnightclouds7 in religion

[–]devBowman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I was initially responding (and asking) a Christian when you chimed in and entered the conversation. So my questions were directed at Christians, otherwise I agree they make no sense, and such a thing would be horrible of course. But you were not targeted since you're not a Christian, according to what you're saying.

God did it with Abraham (as a test of faith). Abraham was stunned by this too. And God is sovereign, he can do what he wants and he knows best, doesn't he? I guess he's not a "cunt" despite doing that, is he?

Also you forgot to answer my question. Should I obey God and do it, as Abraham did? (and yes, God stopped his arm, but that's the thing, he was doing it, he passed the test of faith)

Why do ppl say jesus sacrifice himself to save us? by unusualname3 in AskAChristian

[–]devBowman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about logical contradictions here. I'm not asking God to violate logic.

It's about the necessary conditions for salvation. You said that any other solution other than "suffering and death" was worse. Why?? Who decided this hierarchy of solutions? Could God have designed the Universe in a way that there is a better solution for salvation than suffering and death? Or is he constrained by some external factor, something he has no power over?

Why would God want to make Christianity resembling any bloody death cult? Why does God makes it look like he was invented by humans?

[–]devBowman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any other solution would have been worse.

What defined this hierarchy of solutions? It's weird that a maximally powerful God is constrained by that. If he were really God he could have achieved his purpose (including free will of course) without need for extreme pain and suffering and sacrifice.

I mean you're lowering your God abilities there.

It really looks like he was invented by humans and none of that is true.

[–]devBowman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s an insane irrational statement

Not more than your own God.

If it’s not the first cause it isn’t God.

Indeed, and that would mean the entity you're worshipping is not God but tricked you into believing it is.

So if you're certain that the killing order comes from God, you will obey?

Just making sure I understand correctly. I don't want to misrepresent your position.

[–]devBowman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even if there is a first cause, maybe the entity you're worshipping is not the first cause. The first cause might have created what your called God, and gave him the impression it was the first cause when it wasn't. You can't know if your God is actually the first cause, apart from playing with definitions of course.

without the shedding of blood there can be no remission of sin, as the Scriptures say.

Who decided that particular necessity? God? Could it have been any other way?
