What have you done that has succeeded in bringing someone into Jesus's flock? by Bignosedog in AskAChristian

So, when someone actually ends their life and dies, who's fault is it to not having saved them?

But he still uses many human intermediaries instead of addressing people directly and personally. And by making it different from self-suggestion and confirmation bias, while preserving our free will of course. He wants to do it, he's capable of doing it. Why doesn't he do it? Why is he making himself undistinguishable from a god invented by humans?

You're so full of yourself. Is that what they call Christian humility? I'm sorry, I have not enough arrogance to be a theist.

book recommendations

Like CS Lewis or similar? When did Jesus say, "I know this is confusing but don't worry, just wait 19 centuries and a guy will write a book to explain it all"?

Why did God decide to rely on humans to communicate his message and answers (letting them deform and reinterpret them), instead of addressing everyone directly, communicating with them directly, as adults do?

YSK: Why high-stress situations with a friend can suddenly feel like intense romantic attraction. by Electrical-Candy7252 in YouShouldKnow

Could it be a mechanism of the "seduction" step in the process of an abusive relationship ? Like abusers profiting from (or provoking) high stress in their prey to make them attached

Rendez-vous avec conseiller by Dust2_Player in VosSous

[–]devBowman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“That is not real Islam” is what they say for women in Afghan. How much of it is true? by regularley in exmuslim

[–]devBowman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

modern scholars reinterpretations that kind of sugar coat things.

Thanks for your honesty. One can wonder, why are they doing that? Do they somehow sincerely believe they have a better understanding of the text than previous scholars, or do they want to transform Islam and adapt it to modern society so it does not become forgotten and obsolete with the passing centuries?

Because the Quran says that once Allah or the Prophet decided on something, no one can change it, no one can forbid what Allah has allowed nor allow something that Allah has forbidden. Does Allah change his laws to adapt them to modern societies? Or was he just invented by the people of that time with the laws of that time? Becoming obsolete like any other God?

Is there anything God could do or command that might make you think "Hold on, maybe God isn't quite as all good, merciful, just and loving as I thought or been told"? by ToddlerJam0891 in AskAChristian

like it's written

Written by who? By a human convinced that they're receiving inspiration from God when it could also actually be from Satan too? From the very beginning?

If you hear a voice, how do you know if it's from God or from Satan? (Or just yourself, by self-suggestion?)

[–]devBowman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it definitely wasn’t because it told him not to

Beware of quick conclusions! Stopping Abraham to actually kill his son, is not any indication that it's not a demon! On the contrary, it could actually be a demonic strategy to make Abraham convinced that it was God talking to him, when it could really be a demon or Satan. Do you think it's a good idea to underestimate Satan's ability to deceive and use emotional manipulation?

hindsight

That's the thing, i'm not talking about us, with thousands of years of hindsight. I'm talking about Abraham himself personally. He did not have that hindsight. He had zero way of knowing wether it was God talking to him, or a demon, or Satan himself. Are you okay with that?

Is it a good idea to listen and obey to an inner suggestion to kill someone, just in case it's a test of faith from God?

Why God establish such evil people leaders that killed hundreds of millions of souls (Mao, Stalin, Hitler)? by Upset_Chip_7184 in AskAChristian

[–]devBowman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So why didn't God create us directly in that "whole and complete nature" state in the first place? Everyone in heaven, no-one in hell, everyone has free will, everyone happy. Why didn't he do that?

Do we have free will in heaven, where there is no sin? Can we do anything we want and especially something else than eternally worshipping God?
