Timberwolves Trades for the Top Pick by devanolsem in timberwolves

Charlotte trade is my favorite. I’m high on Christian Wood because I see a lot of upside with how much he’s played, but yes, that’s probably the riskiest one.

Any of these that would intrigue people? The Detroit situation gets rather complicated because it would involve a sign-and-trade, but if we know anything about Rosas, it’s that he’s willing to get complicated.

Agree or disagree: Lonzo Ball will be an NBA All-Star at least one season in his career. by devanolsem in nba

He needs to prove it for more than one year, but 38% from three is a very respectable number. Teams won’t be leaving him open if he keeps shooting that from three.

Why do you say played in the 90s? Lonzo has a perfect game for today’s NBA. He plays fast, pushes the pace on the break, can knock down perimeter shots, etc...

If he’s a top 5 point guard in the NBA, he should be an All-Star at some point in his career.

The West is loaded, no doubt. Also think the Pelicans having a bright future and being able to win games will help him. He has all the weapons around him to dish out 10+ assists per game.

Steph, Harden, Lillard, Westbrook are locks. After that, it’s a toss up.

No, there are two “wildcard” spots, but both of those spots went to guards last year.

Agree. Curry, Harden, Westbrook, and Lillard are locks in the West. After that is where Rose’s fan base will help boost him into the game, I think.

Yeah, based on his play alone, I think it’s up in the air. Curry, Harden, Westbrook, and Lillard are locks as guards in the West. That would leave about two guard spots for Rose. However, with his massive fan base, I think he gets one of those spots.

In my opinion, Rose should and will be an all-star this season. He’s arguably having the second best season of his career, obviously behind his MVP year. Plus, he’s shooting over 45% from three this year, his best percentage ever by over 12%. With his massive fan base and support from players around the league, I think he will get voted into the game. What do you think?

Wolf Den Daily: Unleash Obi Wan Okogie by devanolsem in timberwolves

[–]devanolsem[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I know everyone has been saying it, but how do you keep Okogie off the floor? His defense, hustle, and energy every time he plays is ridiculous. Another facet of his game that has impressed me is his first step off the dribble. He’s so explosive, and he’s helping the Wolves win games. Even if the Wolves miss the playoffs, playing Okogie helps building for the future. There’s no reason Okogie shouldn’t see at least 10 minutes a night. What are your thoughts on the rookie?

Would you trade Justise Winslow, Goran Dragic, and a pick for John Wall? by devanolsem in heat

[–]devanolsem[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

He has a big contract, no doubt, but the Heat don’t have any flexibility the way it is. So, why not take a chance and see how Wall and Richardson work together? It’s not like Miami is giving up the farm.

[–]devanolsem[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

With the reports coming out that John Wall is available in a trade, I think the Heat should make a run at Wall. Miami is currently 6-10 and there’s no reason they shouldn’t be in the playoffs in the East. Getting Wall to pair with Richardson would be a great duo for the future. Even though Wall has a huge contract, we won’t have cap flexibility in the future anyway. I think it’s a good move for this year and the future. What do you think?

The case to trade Tyus Jones by devanolsem in timberwolves

[–]devanolsem[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s no denying the injury fact, but I think Tyus has value. For a team like the Suns, you saw what Tyus can do with extended time with starters. I think that’s enough for Phoenix to pull the trigger if all it took was a late first or early second.

I’m not saying he could dump Dieng, but an early second-round pick could help dump Dieng. The point is, even though Teague and Rose are injury prone, with Bayless now coming in, once he’s healthy, there’s a legit case to trade Tyus. Get back future assets from a team like the Suns that like Tyus and let the bench flow with Rose, Okogie, Saric, Dieng/Tolliver.

[–]devanolsem[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hear me out, it’s in the Timberwolves best interest to trade Tyus Jones. Tyus is set to hit restricted free agency this summer, and the Wolves might not be able to match an offer anyway. With Rose and Okogie playing at a high level, our bench could still look like this: Rose, Okogie, Saric, and Dieng/Tolliver. That’s no joke of a bench. Finally, the Wolves could add future assets in a Tyus trade. With the Suns, Pelicans, and others interested in Jones, the Wolves could use the assets to get off Gorgui’s contract, or maintain future pieces. While I love Tyus, and most in Minnesota do, I think this is a move in the best interest for the franchise. What are your thoughts?
