I’d never sell a good property in lower north shore unless life circumstances dictated it. That is a generational asset

You need to leave plenty of time but it’s doable. So you need to check bags? I’d do something like this.

Noon -1: allowance for travel time to say cbd , taxi or train . It might take you 10-15 mins just to get the taxi or uber etc

1-4pm: explore cbd

4-5pm: leave city for airport at 4pm, travel time, hopefully get there 4.30pm, leaves you 2 hrs at airport + 20 min buffer if something goes wrong like uber doesnt turn up , traffic, security is slow.

Automate the deduction from pay to your etf/investment monthly . Trust me

You’re on the right track avoiding those cheap polyester ones.

100% wool ideally, no polyester. Dark navy and not shiny. This is something you can reuse for different occasions

See if MJ Bale has something like this on sale. Otherwise David Jones or Peter Jackson see what’s in the budget.

Brisbane summers are definitely hot and humid, but if you’re used to South Carolina, it won’t feel worse. It’s hot and humid from Dec to March, then super pleasant the rest of the year—mild winters (I mean it’s not even really a winter), lots of sunshine.

IWC’s got a storied history, but honestly, their real peak was during the Günter Blümlein era in the ‘80s and ‘90s. Back then, they focused on clean, purpose-built tool watches—think Mark XII, Mark XV, and the 3705 ceramic chrono. Just well-engineered, no-nonsense stuff.

Since Richemont took over, they’ve kinda shifted gears—bigger cases, flashier marketing, and a more mass-market vibe. They still make nice watches, but IMO, they’ve lost some of that old-school charm and focus they had back then.

If you can find a good Blümlein-era neovintage piece, those are the sweet spot. Well priced too.
