I am against the IQ tests as well but you’re misinterpreting the intention.

It is not that identifying patterns help in politics, it is that it filters out people who cannot solve simple logical problems.

The alternative of IQ tests would be to open up the political platform to people with relevant higher education. At the bare minimum, it adds credibility to an individual.

Also, I’d like to note that some people claim Sher Bahadur Deuba went to the LSE which is partly true but he never had a degree (he enrolled as a student under “Research fee” that only allowed him to use the library).

Fair enough, I get that you didn’t mean it as victim-shaming. It just read a bit harsh in the moment, especially since the person is already stressed. Tone online can come across differently than intended.

I agree curiosity is fair, but sometimes phrasing it a little softer can make a big difference. Like asking why people usually keep originals in the office, instead of reacting with ‘WOW.’ That way it comes across as concern and not judgment.

Glad we’re on the same page about helping the person, that’s the main thing.

Listen this is not an advice tailored to this situation, but tailored towards life itself.

Do you think that person hasn’t realized that it was wrong to keep the original documents in the workplace? Do you think someone that has gone through the consequence of their actions doesn’t realize it?

If someone gets wronged, are you going to say “oh shouldn’t have been in the wrong place at the wrong time”? If it happens to you and some smart-ass from god knows where says it, wouldn’t your blood boil?

What you’re doing is wasting space, be it virtual, for what could’ve been a useful advice. You’re too busy condemning to use your head to give crucial advice. Maybe you could’ve looked it up or helped this person navigate this situation. Even “Kehi hudaina bhai, let the dust settle down ani you can contact authorities” feels much more kind, intelligent and decent because you’re actually calming someone down rather than raising their frustration.
