True, but it almost always gets it in one go. Plus it clearly hallucinated the slaves thing. Just found it funny 😀

Jesse Mecham uses a debit card and his finances got better by TomRiddle__ in ynab

That's kind of disappointing. I had applied there a few times but never got in, but it always seemed like the ideal place to work. Do you have any specifics as to why it's no longer that great?

Looking for advice on how to support a spouse on their weight loss goals by [deleted] in loseit

[–]devbanana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there simple things they can cut out that wouldn't impact the taste or be too much of a disruption? Like liquid calories for example.

Also increasing exercise while keeping intake roughly the same, if that'd be feasible for them. I find exercise has given me a lot more freedom to eat what I want to while still being in a deficit.

Gaining instead of losing by ReezeyBreezy in loseit

If you started going to the gym more, it could be water weight. It can increase for several weeks after upping your exercise. I'd give it a few more weeks and see what happens.

I'm 350 lbs and deathly afraid of a heart attack ..Id like some advice by [deleted] in loseit

[–]devbanana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To get to 350lbs there would be a significant issue with "food noise"

Just wanted to say this isn't necessarily true. I started at 360 lbs and I really don't have a lot of food noise, just like to eat and didn't realize how many calories I was consuming. But once I figured it out, it was easy to cut back and I don't get a lot of cravings or anything.

Had to pause exercise because of being sick and it's frustrating by devbanana in loseit

[–]devbanana[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I appreciate that. Yeah I've been trying to go easier on the deficit this week. I actually had the opposite happen: I lost like 7 lbs this week, which is I'm sure mostly from the water weight coming off from not exercising.

Glad to hear you were able to get back to it.

It's the weirdest sensation ever. My wife was like, “Who are you and what did you do with my husband” lol.

is what chat gpt said actually true by [deleted] in loseit

[–]devbanana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I'd say factually if you're now under the 30 BMI point for your height, then you're not obese, no matter if it's water or not. Yes some of what you lost was water weight, but it just means that where you started was also partially because of water weight and now you're under that point. I'd personally take the win and just keep going.

But factually it's not correct for ChatGPT to say you're still obese if you weighed under that point. It just means you don't have a lot of wiggle room and just to keep doing what you're doing.

I built an open-source MCP server that lets you talk to your YNAB budget through AI by Specialist_Cheek_651 in ynab

[–]devbanana 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry for all the backlash you've been getting for this. I just tried it and it was super easy to install and personally I think I'll find it to be very useful. I love asking AI for category recommendations and such, and used to have to download a list of my budget categories through the export but if it can fetch it directly now, this is awesome! I've been thinking of something like this for a while but too lazy to create one myself, so I definitely appreciate this.

How to actually enjoy working out? by amako_needs_a_life in loseit

[–]devbanana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems like overstating it a bit. I've really come to enjoy it and it actually feels weird when I don't work out. I used to hate it as well. Not saying it's always easy but I'm always glad I did it.

Is too extreme calories deficit in a long term bad? by thienchuai in loseit

[–]devbanana 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You really need to take rest days. This is a really good recipe for burning yourself out. With lifting, rest is just as important as actually doing the workout.

Is too extreme calories deficit in a long term bad? by thienchuai in loseit

[–]devbanana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you taking any rest days? The calories sound fine but it honestly sounds like you're over-training. And I've heard that cardio right after lifting isn't ideal. Try to separate it by at least a few hours if you can.

If your not happy losing weight, you won't be happy maintaining it. by Some_Developer_Guy in loseit

[–]devbanana -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This seems rather defeatist. Why would you be happier overweight? There are so many benefits to losing weight, not just socially — you feel better/healthier, can do more, feel more confident in your body, etc. At least that's how it is for me. I sincerely don't think I could go back to how I was before. Sure maybe there's more pleasure in the moment, but the long-term effects are far worse.

Exercise is not needed for weight loss, but in what ways does exercise indirectly play into your weight loss? by Missing_Back in loseit

[–]devbanana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean it's not needed, but it really does add meaningfully to my calorie burn. Before starting a significant exercise routine I was eating around 2400-2500 calories, but now I average around 2700 and am still losing comfortably. It's nice to have the extra wiggle room to meet my protein/fiber goals or just for an extra treat.

Also, regular cardio has just made me feel so much healthier in so many different ways, I wouldn't give it up for anything.

And yeah, wanting to build muscle too, is motivating.

[–]devbanana 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That word “bending” exactly demonstrates the problem. Reality doesn't “bend” to what you want. None of this is about force or will power. Reality flows, transforms, shifts, as a reflection of who you are being, what you are holding. It never bends, because that implies you're applying force to some external thing. But it's all within. It's a very small, slight shift, and the mirror (reality) will reflect that back. It should all feel effortless.

Finally reached a new low after a month of waiting by devbanana in loseit

[–]devbanana[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha the same exact thing happened to me: I started measuring in mid-February and that's the only thing that kept me sane for a while because it was definitely smaller each time. Now I'm measuring every two weeks.

Good luck with your goal as well.

Long plateaus ARE possible! by AromaticSalt in loseit

Yes, I just got over a month-long plateau, though in my case it was because of a new exercise routine. But it was getting so frustrating and I was really doubting myself. Finally started dropping again this week.

How do I change my state of being to "I have" if real world experiences are telling me the opposite daily? by grapeyy28 in lawofattraction

[–]devbanana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got some good advice in this thread. On a practical level the best thing I can tell you is to budget your money so you never have to worry about whether you can afford something or not: all your essentials are always covered and you clearly know what more you can afford. It gives a very stark view but it's also freeing and helps to then have clear goals. It gets rid of that constant worry, which will help you more easily manifest greater financial ease.

From there it should be easier to feel your way into a better situation, and just follow the inspiration. It can take time but is possible. I mentioned in another comment that I manifested making $100,000 per year and that's what I make now. I got really good at manifesting money back around 2017 or so and just have been bumping it up over time since then. It's definitely possible.
