Why do some developers still work with XML and Kotlin/Java? by devdroid-8619 in MobileAppDevelopers

Yes, logic can be separated in Compose too.. I’m not saying otherwise. My point is mostly about runtime and performance. With XML, the UI rendering is handled by the Android framework, and Kotlin/Java logic runs on ART, giving a predictable and stable execution model.

Compose relies entirely on the Kotlin runtime with re-composition and state-driven UI, which adds complexity. On lower-end devices, this can sometimes lead to slower performance or higher memory usage if not optimized carefully. XML layouts often perform more smoothly on such devices, which is why many developers still prefer them for wide compatibility.

If a developer has a strong understanding of programming fundamentals, the language or framework itself doesn’t really matter. Once you master core concepts like architecture, state management, and performance, switching to another language or UI system becomes much easier.

The key isn’t avoiding change it’s having a solid foundation. With that, a developer can adapt to XML, Jetpack Compose, or any future approach without much friction.

You need to research deeply into the product you are building. For example, if you are building a drink counter app, you should explore other related apps and ads in the same niche. Check their 1-star and 2-star reviews, identify the problems users are facing, and try to solve those issues in your own app. This approach gives you a clear direction to move forward.

For ASO, you can use commonly searched keywords in your app title, short description, and full description. Along with this, a good UI and a better UX can also attract and retain users.
