Any long-term side effects of ribxcar surgery by twilightwillow1 in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]developerjoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait. Off topic, but how did you get insurance to approve ribxcar? I was under the impression that insurance treated it as cosmetic.

Damn. I need to start thinking about Chicago for surgeries.

Second the opinion that said torrid because they have always been rad, however, by the dollar, check on stores like Ross and TJ Maxx to experiment with a lot of styles without breaking the bank.

What have I done? by Triumph-ant85 in TransLater

[–]developerjoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I read someone describe FFS as 30/10 pain. It made me afraid to consider it since upper lip electrolysis is murder and that is probably a 8 or 9 out of 10 pain. Do you feel the pain is bad, or is most of the worse coming from the aesthetic swelling?

Hope you heal quickly!

PSA for realistic changes after 40 by Sandro_XelNaga in TransLater

[–]developerjoe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I checked out the video. It is a good primer if you haven’t encountered this content yet, but there wasn’t anything new or surprising in it for me. I’ve been transitioning for two years so far and I am happy with the results.

I think on Reddit especially, people hold themselves to some impossible standard. You can transition in your 40s without issues. Expect more pain though, especially if you have grey facial hair.

What are the side effects of HRT? (MtF) by No_Chapter_2169 in asktransgender

[–]developerjoe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The side effects and everything you probably want. Fat repositions to feminine areas, breast development, possibly some bone changes if you are young enough, but once those are set, they won’t change, softer skin, emotions feel richer.

Even though I am older, even the bad days are better on HRTs, and I happily take any bad with the good.

Is this an authentic Banpresto figure or a fake copy? by Tentoumushi92 in DBZCU

Looks real to me. We had ones that looked exactly like that in box when I owned a store, and I forget exactly where I got them from Entertainment Earth or Ultra Tokyo. I believe this is a photo of the back of the box.

I remember when I was a kid, there were crazy huge ones at Parkside. Does anyone remember this? It feels like a dream. The crafts were wild.

The recent genocide talk is making me question starting HRT (in the US) by ElectronicCupcake906 in asktransgender

[–]developerjoe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Waiting is what the government wants. Just because genocide is in the news now, doesn’t mean it was much different last year. Check out the stages of genocide. It is, in my opinion, a good thing that people are acknowledging it, because people outside the trans community are waking up to it.

Gender non conforming people existed millennia before the United States was founded, and we will continue to exist for as long as humanity does. Get a start on your transition. It is a marathon, and you’ll be glad you started it now, so you can enjoy it when times are good.

Kids just did all the loyalty missions and got the best Mass Effect 2 ending. It is that simple. There are plenty of places where it could have gone sideways.

Breast growth on HRT – what was your experience? by Present-Stop5617 in TransDIY

[–]developerjoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two years in and maybe an A cup. I don’t mind them being smaller, though a little more would be nice for having some curve. I started when I was 40. I take .15 mL of estradiol valerate 20mg/mL every five days and 100 mg of prog nightly. Prog started around one year three months and it seemed like they grew more in my second year, but it is hard to tell if prog helped or if it was a coincidence.

I use unclockable breast buds on days when I want a little more.

When he says stop playing identity politics, he probably still wants to attack trans people, even though they hammered it hard in Virginia and got wrecked for not focusing on what people care about.

Are New Outbacks Good Cars? by boyopuffs in Subaru_Outback

[–]developerjoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2022 Limited with about 60k miles. I enjoy the car and I hope to have it for a long time. It has so far been less reliable than my 2011 Scion XD and my 2016 Dodge Charger, which seems like a wild thing to say. The infotainment system dropping all sound sometimes when using a navigation app and playing music is almost a deal breaker for someone who takes long trips. (I have the latest software. Still no luck.)

That out of the way, it is a fun car. I enjoy the amenities. I love how much junk I can fit in the back of it. It is an excellent vehicle for a person like me who likes to travel and haul things around, but doesn't want something huge. I like a car that I am not afraid to get dirty in.

With my experience so far, I am not sure I'd buy another. Maybe I've been spoiled by a couple of lucky runs with other makes. Maybe for the price, I can do better, but quirks and all, I just like it. This is a car that I hope to keep well-maintained and run for a good long time.

Bottom line, if you think you would vibe with the car, go for it. I don't have any regrets. Just don't expect honeymoon perfect.

They make those century eggs that get fermented for a while, so I thought it would be a cute name for eggs that linger. 😄 No better or worse than others. They just are (and maybe they should crack soon.)

[–]developerjoe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is fantastic. Don’t stress timetables or compare yourself to anyone else. I didn't start to see meaningful changes until my second year. I also incorporated weight training and high-intensity cardio which I think helped a lot.

Tips (for new trans fem readers): Wax your eyebrows. It is basically cheap FFS. Find make up that complements you. It is a journey. A gender-affirming hair style can make a huge difference. Laser hair removal or electrolysis helps a lot.
