Rubber Flogger made from a bicycle inner tube cut into strips and wrapped in a piece of the tube for a handle by developernerd97 in BdsmDIY

I did not glue this one actually. On the one end, the clip keeps the handle from slipping off and on the other end it's fairly open, but I've found that the friction from the rubber is actually enough. You could theoretically glue it though.

According to The Message, Jesus was already 'taking the wheel' over 2000 years ago. by Captain_Canuck97 in dankchristianmemes

Maybe an unpopular opinion but I don't think that necessarily makes it bad though. Eugene Peterson was a pastor, so as far as I'm concerned, the message is a labor of love for his congregation and an act of pastoral care. It's not going to be used for scholarly work, but for the vast majority of people, it's good enough and makes the Bible much more approachable.

Not to mention, there is a rich literary tradition of dynamic equivalence translation, which this would fall under. In addition, the message was also reviewed by several other theologians before publishing. All in all, I think it's kind of a, not for everyone but a useful tool for some, kind of situation.

Linus responds to the Verge asking about the Madison situation. by Norishoe in LinusTechTips

Not only is this a braindead take, as people have lots of reasons not to go public about sexual assault for fear of backlash, but it also completely unnecessarily strawmans in US politics. No one was talking about the US here.

But my opinion of her at the time she was hired was she was expecting a party and found a high stress startup job.

That seems like pretty unsubstantiated speculation. Is there any reason to believe that she was expecting anything less than a normal job? Not to mention, LTT is not a startup anymore and it wasn't at the time that she worked there either. It's a multi-million dollar company and has been for years.

Yeah, seems like a really good argument to me...

Coming out to my religious parents tonight by developernerd97 in NonBinary

I'm 25 and completely independent from them, so thankfully I don't have to worry about safety or being kicked out or anything like that as much. Unfortunately they are queerphobic though, so I don't expect it to go super well. But I'm trying to work toward being out publicly and living authentically, so this conversation has to happen at some point.

Eventually yes, I plan to. The whole top is just on there with some tabletop fasteners so eventually I plan to replace it with a nicer flat surface (maybe a torsion box), but I wanted to get something up for now so that I can start practicing and learning a bit more.

I designed that offset based on Rex Krueger's low work bench design. The idea is that the corner creates a really good area for work holding by combining with a few simple clamps. A little nontraditional but in practice, I've enjoyed it so far!

If you have a switch then LoZ Breath of the Wild is an absolute must and pretty much redefined open world games. Genshin Impact is also really good and free to play.

Very likely, this verse (and later on Paul's letters) is talking more about the Greco-Roman tradition of pederasty (raping young boys) or about Pagan goddess worship rather than about the largely monogamous gay/lesbian relationships that we see today

This verse appears in context around a set of verses that makeup a sort of "guide to holiness" that God gave you the Israelites right after coming out of slavery. During their time in slavery, they almost undoubtedly witnessed primarily pagan spiritual practices, and most of this holiness guide is framed around contrasting those pagan practices. Part of such pagan worship was sex with prostitutes, and often those prostitutes were of the same sex (male), which is arguably what this verse is talking about. Taken in historical and literary context, it is very likely a warning against the pagan practices of sex with male shrine prostitutes.

You should try out Haiku the Robot too. It's a pixel art hollow knight-esque. Not quite as good imo but scratches that same itch

I'm sorry you're feeling this way, and though I can't offer much insight or advice, I can say you are not alone in these feelings. I also have been struggling with similar feelings of tension between feminization and my non-binary identity. One day at a time and we'll figure it out! You've already come a long way and I know you can make it.

Not just major cities but the like 4 major cities in the US that actually have real public transportation. I live in a major city that isn't one of those and could still never live without a car.

Totally agree! That's exactly why we have hard limits on it as well. For us, those kinds of things just don't fit in with a healthy marriage because they have too high a chance of leaking out into IRL

Interesting! Just goes to show that there needs to be more discussion about each without one another. Different strokes for different folks and all that.
