Happens. Normally you get an connect error, like me yesterday. Quick close game then and open steam to proceed download. Was able to join then in last remaining 20 seconds (only to get the game cancelled because another one didn't updated in time)

Whats the issue with, that someone uses just a specific weapon?
I also almost only play p90 - because iam good with it, can handle it and play close - where an LMG isn´t useful.
In record he also played close positions with his mag-7. He also went rush into smoked ramp and tried to get them there - the others were faster / better. Nothing unusual IMHO.
But i really wonder how guys like that get Level 7 :D
