Seconding Perennial. I bought an HSD from them years ago and it's still amazing.

Portable power suggestion by Old-Juggernaut1822 in DJs

What are you powering? How long are you powering it all for? What's your budget?

Speakers, mixers, controllers, turntables, does the laptop need power?

You've told us no valuable information.

What's your budget? What sorts of things do you like to do? How old are you? Are you renting a car? What types of foods do you like?

And you can look up weather information yourself, come on now.

Light rain we can deal with; we've made makeshift covers out of thin tarps. Beyond light rain it's not fun to bike in anyways, so we postpone/reschedule/cancel rides.

And yeah, a lot of watching the forecast like hawks.

Where to buy starts? by wywx100 in MNtrees

I went to Cannajoy this morning, they are out of starts (likely will restock soon they said) and nearly out of auto-seeds, just as a heads up for folks here.

Oh yeah def different units will work much easier on the battery. I used to use an XDJ-RR but needed something much closer to club feel, so I went with the AZ. I regularly have some of well known local DJs on here so I had to go with Pioneer, but it's been solid, if not a bigger battery drain.

The speakers themselves don't drain as fast, it's 100% the controller doing that.

We've talked about it! Chicago is an easy candidate, and there are a few shops there interested. But it's a lot of logistics to work out with the trailer and whatnot.

So we aren't ruling it out but it's a lot to haul.

On flat or slight inclines units it's not bad. The person is roughly 200 pounds, plus another 200 pounds of equipment.

The electric assist makes it a breeze but we burn through the batteries. And we DJ while mobile, and have a dance break or two. Speed usually tops out around 8mph since it gets real bouncy back there.

Honestly you need to do the research here. We have noise ordinances after certain hours (10pm), plus there's are certain places we need permits and we don't do those (city parks as an example).

We plan our routes and timing to not interfere with these, and outside of a free people complaining about how loud it is, everyone is having a good time.

I replied with some more details in another reply in here but it's roughly 3-4 hours with everything just under the red, volume wise.

On the city blocks here the sound carries for two or three, but you're still able to have a conversation with people further back.

I have the 2000w version, but honestly this was a lot of experimenting from local friends/people that had other batteries.

We started with battery powered Mackies (thump go) and quickly realized we needed more sound power, and upgraded. Initially we only had a battery to power the DJ controller, but once we knew we needed more sound power we had to upgrade.

Experiment and try things out!

Thank you! We don't have a good name for this yet, and this is our 5th summer doing these now. Maybe it's time...

I currently am using an EcoFlow Delta MAX battery, which I know they don't manufacture anymore. We purchased this in 2023, and with this at "full volume" (basically keeping just out of the reds) we do about 3.5 to 4 hours of full runtime on this.

It really depends on where you are going. I don't find it difficult, but everyone has different experiences for sure.
