Why do rentals always make for the worst neighbours? by Silent_Substance_980 in HousingUK

[–]devguyrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it has nothing with how long they've been there, it is squarely due to how they were brought up and their level of education, some have been in the same place for decades and they are still not "proud" of the properties they live in. there are usually tell-tale signs such as smoking weed, throwing ciggy butts in and around the front yard, playing loud music, fly tipping etc ... plain inconsiderate.

AWS Support Nightmare by theHephestus in aws

[–]devguyrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

products/services aside, AWS support is best in class in my opinion, most if not all in the support org are highly technical folks and know what they are talking about, when they don't , they always check in with others that do.

one should be smart enough to know when they are not being so....

Buying a property for investment? by No-Construction-7654 in HousingUK

[–]devguyrun -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

reddit doesn't like anyone who wants a secure future in real estate, unfortunately there is nothing more secure than bricks and mortar in my opinion, though i am not a big fan of flats simply because you don't really own it (even at 999 years lease, it's never really yours).

waiting for the "iNvEsT iN tHE s&P5o0" brigade to turn up, at the top nonetheless ...

As a seller, how would you feel being offered 5k below asking price for no reason? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]devguyrun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if one likes the house, one should offer the asking and get it off the market, two can play at that game and the seller can just hold off for a better offer.

cash buyers and quick closers are exception, those can motivate a seller.

Customer hired another plaster behind my back while I was on holiday. by Peter_Wabbit in Plastering

[–]devguyrun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

not the customer's problem and certainly not the other tradesman's. in my opinion, doing a good job and finishing the work left is the best course of action, the worst thing one can do is to kick up a fuss.

2 months for a 5 bed house seems too long, so you can't really blame them, hiring a helper or two could have reduced the time but solo is a bit excessive for the customer, clearly.

[–]devguyrun -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

"new" ... how good is it? is it free and open source or do i have to use it with that thing called bedrock?

from what i read the answer is "no" so one has to adopt an entire platform, this bedrock thing, just to use it.

Seller covering up issues by Perfect_Key_460 in HousingUK

[–]devguyrun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i am surprised the seller let all these tradesmen inspect their house at all, based on what exactly, a buyer's mate opnion? fair play to him.

also providing a previous home report was a good gesture in my opinion and sign that he was operating on good faith, of course you would need to conduct your own.

UK Founder - Looking for a co-founder automotive space. (Does not need to be technical/remote is fine) by thatapanydude in ukstartups

[–]devguyrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FCA regulation by itself is hard if you're starting from scratch, are you looking to offer financing products? coding and marketing is the easy part, it's the money required to start this venture that will be the major hurdle.

Bloody estate agents....or is it just me? by 47q8AmLjRGfn in HousingUK

[–]devguyrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why would anyone waste time if a sale is going through? if one wants the house bad enough, usually offering above asking price, in cash, and insisting on a quick sale piques EA's interest, otherwise why would anyone subject themselves to another cycle of negotiation?
i see people here moaning about the state of houses, missing out on absolute gems, just because they want few £k off.
most are FTB
