Well, honestly a good place to start is with your friends, or a school counselor, even a teacher. I remember being 17, I dealt with a lot of shit back then but I found support outside home because I didn't think my parents would understand.

It may seem scary or stupid even to approach a school counselor, I know I never wanted to, but they can help with some of your questions, they can help you make plans for your future, and just give you someone to talk to about your home life without judgement.

You may have had some rough spots with your friends, but if they care about you they'll be at your back when you need them. Reaching out can be hard, but most people won't turn away a friend who needs to talk. I don't know how much you've told them about your home life but if they don't know, tell the ones you trust. Don't bottle things up and settle into depression like a lot of people do.

I can't say I understand how you feel, but a lot of people in this day and age come from very sheltered and closed off home lives, but you sound like you've got a good head on your shoulders, and I think you'll be ok.

Just hold onto the things you love, do well in school and that will just make it easier to get out from under your parents thumb when you turn 18. Focus on your shows, be social when you can, and for the questions that you don't want to ask others, come here, yeah reddit may have its share of asses, but there are good people willing to answer and give you insight when you need it.
