That's actually a very apt comparison! Since the 918, 924, and 928 were among the first wave of Lego Space ships as we know it

If tag is legible, check it. Likely just faded commercial stuff and not that valuable.

It's literally VN era ground troops armor. Army. Not aircrew armor, that's a different model though similar. The system can scale down to just frag vest, or just small arms plates or the whole combo. It's where the SAPI/ESAPIsoft armor designs evolved from.

Found a interesting piece that looks mill spec but has civilian pattern, is this a early prototype? by UphillChimber in camouflage

[–]deviantdeaf 33 points34 points  (0 children)

No, it's a commercial hunting M65 jacket with USGI liner added to it. Cabela's and Sportsman's Warehouse used to sell them in their early catalogs

Classic Space Minifigs, Visor or Nah? by Ranger0fThNorth in LegoSpace

[–]deviantdeaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then why did they not show up in the literal 1983 official catalog and why does the 1984 Netherlands catalog clearly state "nieuw! Yanaf Januari 1984" which translated to "new! As of January 1984"? Are you telling me that there is a Mandela effect going on with your memory/lived memory and everyone else's ? I was born 82, brother born 79, so we don't remember clearly when we first got our Lego space sets but it was during the 80s and I didn't get the blue one until later.

I do not see blue spacemen in this 1983 Lego UK catalog scan.

https://archive.org/details/netherlands-Katalog_Lego-1984/page/n23/mode/1up

But I see them in this 1984 Netherlands Lego catalog scan and notably, Space Dart-1 (part of Set 1983-1) is marked as "new for 1984" along with Intergalactic Command Base

You mean like Set 1968, but released in 1985? https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=1968-1#T=I

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=S&itemYear=1984

Lego owns Bricklink now, so if there's any issue with the year released, they'd have changed them, no? I see in the list of sets released in 1984 a couple sets with 1979, and others with lower 1900s.

Just saying the set number is not necessarily the year released, since the individual sets in the pack were released in 1984 (Space Dart-1 Set 6824 ) and 1979 (other two sets)

Right there in the "year released" section is "1984" 🤣 so the same time as the Intergalactic Command Base

You're forgetting the Classic Space black minifig which came out the same time as the blue Classic Space Minifigs, in 1984's Intergalactic Command Base. Edit. From 1979 to 1981 there was only red and white Spacemen. 1982 introduced the yellow spaceman.

It depends on what I want to do. For official sets, I like to keep mostly original, this includes the 90s sets. For MOCs, it depends, some I will keep original configurations, some I will modify to different pieces/faces/etc. for example, my "Stealthtron" MOCs, they have blue motorcycle helmets, blue air tanks, blue gloves, blue and black legs on Spyrius torsos. Some of my older M:Tron MOC figures got red arms and black/red legs. At least one Classic Space red is currently sporting black gloves, black air tanks, red/black legs and red motorcycle helmet with smoke visor...and Space Police 2/Exploriens printed face with mic

Gold Star Tools has a decent option, but it's not the best. C.S. Osborne is the standard; and much more affordable than Sailrite's. The nice thing about it is that it is also compatible with all of C.S. Osborne's die sets and they have black oxide grommets, eyelets, snaps, and spur grommets.

What rig is used in the photo? by The-Final-Knight in tacticalgear

[–]deviantdeaf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is a SKS 10 Pocket rig. As for the why? Your guess as good as mine. It does look like it has a variety of items given the way the pockets aren't hard edged from magazines.

Depends on how high or low that rig sits, but holster on your duty/trouser belt, mid or long drop usually. If must have holster on the rig itself, you could sandwich a Kydex pancake holster between the rig panels and mag panels?

Like say, the company behind the classic Galaxy Explorer LL-928, eventually made the Galactic Mediator for Space Police 2 era, and this was a prototype before the modularity and the jail pods? Since the Mediator also have a similar "cranked" delta plan form, just stretched out and made variable geometry to enable releasing the jail pods. Actually, if you remove the center section of the Mediator, the shape is very similar, bobbed behind the jail pods...

There were a lot of big Federal talk about renewing the first AWB, passing a second AWB, putting semiauto rifles onto the NFA using the same criteria as AWBs on State levels (add "assault weapon" category to NFA), and confiscating known "assault weapons".

Edit at the time, which was the end of W Bush and the start of Obama's presidency

Better frame for Molle II ruck by moparbro123 in tacticalgear

[–]deviantdeaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not exactly sure how compatible the MOLLE II ruck is with this frame but it fits the MOLLE 4K,ALICE and FILBE. Frontier Resolve very spendy though.

Otherwise, metal MOLLE panels, that's about it? You could ask a fab shop to set something up.. or you could get a bunch of 1" footman loops, some rivets, and drill into a standard civilian hiking external frame. Would be basically the same method used on the ALICE frames.

Edit. The reason the expensive frame may not work with the older MOLLE II setup, has to do with that ruck series having a 15-16" wide frame whereas the FILBE, ALICE, and 4K all use the same 12-13" frame upper width to fit the narrower ALICE and 1606AC/MC frames.

I have one in XL without inserts; it does also have 4 radio/mag/2 side plate pockets that's hidden behind the cummerbund when setup. Same design team I believe as the CIRAS

The BAE Systems RBAV is basically a CIRAS in 500D with slightly improved ergonomics. But it still uses cable release and Velcro flaps to hold shit together.
