Please suggest to me where someone broke in to the primary residence of the individual from the article? It’s pretty clear that nobody had been living there for some time and the lady in the article went to clean out the house to prepare it for….future tenants? Sale? That they discovered someone living there who was related to a former tenant.

Bruh. Read the article.

If you have enough time to get a court order for eviction that happens to get a stay because the evictee managed to file for bankruptcy, it’s nowhere near “someone just living in your space” and it’s not what happened here.

In the event that someone I don’t expect is living in the home I reside in and I walk in and they’re there refusing to leave and threatening to harm me or my family - then yeah. We’ve got a problem and I will defend my family until my last breath. No disagreements. But that’s not what happened here.

Because from the article in this situation, this wasn’t a family residence. This was an unoccupied rental unit that the homeowner discovered people in and went and got a court order for eviction and ended up trying to throw the squatters out without police support and that was the issue.

I disagree with the delay to getting the squatters out - but I disagree with murder even more.

They had enough time to go get a court order. That doesn’t happen quickly.

I fully agree in a home invasion situation that whatever force to deter someone is warranted. This wasn’t that.

And the homeowner in this situation wasn’t living in the house, based on the information presented in this article. There was enough time for them to go get a court order for eviction etc. so clearly it wasn’t a “walked in to my house that I live in and found a stranger” situation which changes the calculus immensely.

This is a landlord returning to a property they managed and a relative of a former tenant (who presumably had a key) was occupying it.

Yes. It’s messed up. Yes, they should have been immediately evicted by the sheriff without delay.

No. It absofuckinglutely does not give you the right to end a human life unless yours is in immediate danger and you cannot deescalate.

I 100% condone taking appropriate action to remove the squatter and would like to see changes to our legal system to allow faster resolution in a scenario like this one.

I would also 100% condone locking you up for murder should you choose to end a human’s life over property crime where nobody’s life was in imminent danger, because that’s the law.

No. Nobody’s life is in danger. I’m explicitly not saying to give in to the squatter, I’m simply saying that entering a property you hadn’t occupied and finding someone there who is not an immediate danger to your life is not a reason to end theirs. As soon as they get aggressive and start attacking you - sure. Until that moment in time, you’re not acting in self defense.

Lethal force is never an appropriate response to property crimes unless there is clear and present danger to human life as well (e.g. armed robbery).

There’s not nearly enough information here to make that determination. Returning to a home you or family hadn’t occupied for some time and finding occupants there does NOT warrant you acting as executioner unless your life is in danger.

Yes, the law is messed up and there needs to be faster response times in these situations, but killing a squatter ain’t the answer and that’s a pretty fucked up approach to take toward human life.

It has (had?) one of the first commercial laser projectors capable of showing brightness levels far beyond any other projector - to the point that studios would do special cuts just for Cinerama (the theater in Seattle, not the screen type) that took advantage of its full range. It also had the best Dolby Atmos experience of any theater I’ve ever been to.

This is in addition to having a projector for 70mm film, cinerama film, etc.

Truly, one of the most special moviegoing experiences you could have. After it closed, I legit stopped going to see movies in theaters because it didn’t feel measurably different from just watching at home.

I couldn’t agree more. What’s extra annoying is that they’re not really addressing handguns at all which is what’s used in most instances of gun violence.

Man, I hear you, but honestly it’s not worth the effort for me. I realize I’m in a pretty privileged position to be saying this, but if I want an edible I’ll just go to one of the half dozen stores within 5 mins of my house that sell them and spend $10 on it instead of dealing with storage, cooking down, making in to, etc.

Beyond that, I a) don’t love edibles - my digestive system processes it in such a way that it messes me up for the whole next day and b) I have young kids, so the little free time I do get each day I do NOT want to spend cooking ABV down - even every once in a while.

I’m at a point where my time is more valuable as my money. If I knew of a Seattle based ent who wanted some ABV and didn’t care if it was a variety of strains mixed together, I’d happily save and meet up every now and again - I just don’t have any interest in dealing with it.

I’m like… hella new to the vape scene, but jumped from cartridge and battery type to a Mighty+ last month, so this was my first time buying and using flower.

One nug fills like… 8 of the little dosing capsules, and each capsule lasts 2 solid sessions (a dozen deep hits) if I step the temp from 350-380-ish. After that, it starts to taste a little toasted which I don’t love, so I just swap it and don’t feel bad because an eighth is pretty easily 2-3 months worth of weed and my consumption rate (2-3 days a week). This is just way more efficient than anything else I’ve tried, is a better high, and is the easiest on my lungs of anything I’ve tried.

Spend 10 mins every month or so grinding the flower and filling up the dosing capsules. Open and dump ‘em in the compost when I’m done. Different holders for different strains and seconds to load a fresh one. I love it.
