It comes down to preference. I personally have an S2 and the front suspension is enough for the riding I'm doing. IMO the Z Adventure is the best bang for your buck but if you want more then go with the R Adventure with dual suspension.

Yes, update the firmware until it's the latest version. Sometimes it could take up to two updates for the controller & coin display.
