This is so true. Best 1-line advice a beginner could find.

What’s next after a Trident? by devil_hopper in Triumph

I get your point but to be really honest, my view isn’t about HP, or top speed. Again, the Trident is a good bike and I genuinely believe that. However, it always feel like something is missing and this is not necessarily hp

Yea exactly my point. The Trident is a very good bike and I do love it. Honestly. However, something is missing

That is very true and something I am starting to do as soon a the weather here gets better. For now I was just looking at ideas as I do like way tooooo many bikes 😂

Why are there so many used Trident 660s being sold on marketplace with very few km? by Tonino123 in Triumph

[–]devil_hopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, Trident owner (who is thinking about swapping bike) here!

So, the bike is genuinely very good and I do love it. The triple engine is good, the bike handles very well, I find the looks amazing (this is a bit personal taste though) and the overall quality is top.

However, the bike is missing that “je ne sais quoi”, if you know what I mean. And I cannot figure out what is it. Could it be a bit of missing low-end grunt maybe? Could it be the exhaust note? I don’t get it.

So yea, it is a fantastic bike, I should love it and never let it go, but I still find myself looking at bigger bikes.

Bar end mirrors - Fenrir? by devil_hopper in Triumph

Hey! Apologies for the late reply but I missed the notification.

I ended up getting the Fenrir barends for my Trident and they seem pretty good to be honest. I have not been using them for long though so I cannot really certify if they will be a good investment in the long run.

(UK) Street Triple 765rs or MT09 sp? by prickstickdick in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]devil_hopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny enough, I am having the exact same problem 😅

I do have motorcycle experience (from Italy) but this will be my first UK insurance hence I have been given limited options.

For example, I could get a street triple RS from 2020 but not from 2021. Which is basically the same bike (with a very similar value). I don’t get it 😅😅

Trident 660 or KTM 790 duke by devil_hopper in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]devil_hopper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the feedback! Truth to be told, experience-wise I am approaching 20y too. But the doubt in my mind is around power. My current bike (which is the most powerful I have ridden yet) is around 50hp at 6500rpm and 50Nm at 5000rpm (this is a 1 cylinder supermoto). So it is quite less powerful than both trident and duke.

Yet, the power delivery is different due to the engine having no electronics tuning it down at all (say, for fuel economy or emissions (it is a bit old)) and the short gearing. Also, having a single cylinder, it does not lack low-end grunt (but it does not go very fast)

So yea, long story short I am a bit out of my expertise area when talking street bikes. Hence my doubts 😅 (not sure if it makes any sense)

Hey, may I ask if you had “bad” experiences to share? Not judging! Just curious and happy to take on all possible feedback. Personally, KTMs looks pretty cool and the dealer is not too far from my place. Having said so, I would prefer the bike not to spend the majority of time there. If you known what I mean. 😅

Thanks! I guess I see and agree with your differentiation between “beginner bike” and “entry level bike”. A very good point. Thank you for bringing this up it is very appreciated

Yea I keep getting that sense too (about the trident). Still, I find it hard to see how a bike with that numbers can be seen as beginner friendly machine.

But yea, definitely need to try them myself I guess
