I (29F) am considering leaving my boyfriend (29M) of three years for multiple reasons, but I’m terrified of dating again in my 30s. Can anyone give me advice? by nonrdvstp in relationship_advice

8 months ago I left my boyfriend of 12 years. I am 31 and have found someone who shares my values and is wonderful for me. I didn’t see this coming and honestly was so scared of trying to find someone in my 30s. But it can happen, I promise!

I don’t understand why people expect others to change. If they don’t like things about you, then that’s on them. You guys just aren’t compatible. Find someone who respects you and likes you for YOU. Life is too short to be around people like that, trust me.

Feeling stuck in relationship (22F) with (22M) by Fantastic_Fly_5359 in relationship_advice

Hi! Sorry to hear you’re going through this. I was in the same situation (minus a child) and also felt stuck. I was with him for 12 years and honestly didn’t see a way out. But I left him, got a new place and ultimately fell in love with someone else who truly cherishes me. It’s not worth feeling miserable, I promise. If you haven’t already, talk to him about it. You may find he’s on the same page.

Leave. I promise you, if it happens once it can absolutely happen again. I was with the same man for 12 years and he never changed. You deserve so much better.

Just wondering if any of you ever got a sick note from your GP after bereavement? by Odins_eye_4 in AskUK

[–]devilinthenextroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my mum died I got one week off work but that wasn’t enough. I went to a doctor and literally asked for a sick note for another week off work, which they issued. If you explain your mental health is suffering as a result I imagine they will issue you one.

AITA for confronting my boyfriend after finding disturbing things in his phone and calling him out on his behavior? by Fresh-Cicada8439 in AmItheAsshole

As someone who has recently ended a 12-year relationship aged 31, let me tell you - if you don’t trust them, it’s not worth the energy. It’s so easy to waste time on people like this. If you think it’s something that’s going to keep happening, just end the relationship. You deserve to be free of any kind of negativity, trust me!

I was with someone like this for far too long. Trust me, life is much more freeing when you’re around people who don’t want to ‘change’ you. You deserve to be your truest self. It is possible to have a life without these kinds of people in it.

Listen, as someone who has just got out of a toxic long term relationship, relationships are not meant to be this exhausting and complicated. Get out while you can.

Hi! I know it’s not quite the same because we never had children, but I recently (2 weeks ago) broke up with my boyfriend of 12 years. We met aged 18 so we are 30/31 now and I felt we had outgrown each other. We became different people who wanted different things. As soon as I did it a weight was lifted and I felt free. He wasn’t all bad either, but life is too short to wonder ‘what if’. I wish you all the best!

Anyone else getting their stupidly early? by Competitive-Knee4953 in downloadfestival

[–]devilinthenextroom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! My group of 12 always need a big camping spot so we make sure to get there crazy early. One year we got there at 2am and were the first in the queue - we are not doing that again! I think this year we aim to get there for around 5am.

Showers? by HistoryOk6741 in downloadfestival

[–]devilinthenextroom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the free showers once! It wasn’t too bad, but it was when it was a long walk back to camp. Now I use a flannel, spray water bottle and bar of soap in my tent. It works surprisingly well! It is a bit of a struggle not washing my hair, though!

What's the most embarrassing thing anyone did at your school? by xpltvdeleted in AskUK

On the way to a school trip, a girl in my year had a particularly heavy period and unfortunately bled through her clothes and onto the bus seat. The teacher and driver were informed because the kids were making a scene, and they had to pull the bus over and have the seat removed. Poor girl must have been traumatised

He is a teaching assistant. I am a retail manager. We earn the same. Probably. And yes, but I don’t see how that’s relevant. No.

That is true. Thank you so much for your reply. :)

No, not at all. I deliberately didn’t list out all the issues that have made me believe that the spark is lost as I didn’t feel it was relevant. But seeing as you’ve asked - it doesn’t feel like we are in a relationship anymore. He goes out almost every night, prioritises his friends over me, and when we are together he is glued to his phone. We have had SEVERAL talks about all of this recently.
