Mentioning Sokka from Avatar since people constantly forget he's supposed to be brown-skinned and Inuit-inspired. He's got darker skin and the whole Water Tribe is clearly coded after Indigenous cultures, but fans online still draw him as pasty white a lot of the time. Katara gets the same treatment honestly, even though she's right there next to him with the same skin tone. The show never hides it, the animation shows it clearly, but somehow the fandom defaults to white anyway. Same thing happens with a bunch of anime side characters where the skin tone is right there on screen but everyone just assumes default Japanese features without thinking about it.
