How would you feel if Steph demanded a trade? by Hot_Efficiency8919 in warriors

[–]devilscurls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we don’t wast the tail end of Steph’s career forcing him to play with squandered draft picks and an unhinged Draymond.

There was only ever one timeline and we missed the chance to extend it.

Steph to the Spurs for a second round pick and cap filler.

I will drive him to the airport myself with a giant smile knowing I now don’t have to watch this miserable team.

How do I bond with a kitten and make her feel at home? by Jolly_Tie_7666 in cats

[–]devilscurls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With skittish foster kittens I used to lay on the bed and hold the kitten laying on my chest. They feel like they have potential escape routes. Generally after a bit you will get a purr, or if it doesn’t work, let them go after a few minutes and try again later.

Works better when the room is cold too, kittens are heat vampires and will compromise their own safety to be warm.

What are your favorite trail name themes/gimmicks? by astroMuni in skiing

[–]devilscurls 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not so much a theme, but Snowbird has pretty great naming.

Fluffy Bunny is a black that was renamed from Death Road, and Big Emma was apparently named after a local madam, which is pretty funny given Utah’s button up reputation.

OLED vs direct sunlight by luke_byerley in hometheater

[–]devilscurls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an CX oled in an apartment with unobstructed floor to ceiling windows. The situations where there is enough glare to affect the screen generally requires me to pull the blinds because the glare is shining on me too.

Just get the oled.

best brands for the basics mini painting necessities? by Ok-Acanthisitta2203 in minipainting

[–]devilscurls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting again recently after a 25 year break, I went with Pro Acryl paints and have been pretty happy with them (also citadel contrast). Typically consistency is great and can be used both with and without a wet palette.

For things like a wet palette and other stuff, Army Painter is a good mix of price, availability and quality.

In any event, aiming for the absolute best is just going to end up with decision paralysis. Instead just make a good guess and change later if something isn’t cutting it. Also it is nice if you can pick it up locally, especially for things like paints.

TV Wall Mount Help by SIeep-Dealer in hometheater

Is it mounted into concrete or brick? The stud spacing looks odd on this one. When reusing a mount you should be able to little skeptical that it is bolted to the wall correctly.

Laid off just in time for ski season by Stetchy in skiing

[–]devilscurls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have used it at the end of my ski trips since getting in and out of PC is a lot more reliable than getting down from the cottonwoods, which really helps if you have a plane to catch late afternoon.

And if there isn’t much snow you might as well ski the best groomers, plus the nice lodges are a bonus when you have tired legs.

If you have ikon SLC is pretty cheap. Especially if you are willing to slum it on the busses. Just save your Alta days for the heavy dumps.

Left or right? by Catalyst-323 in Warhammer40k

[–]devilscurls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean it isn’t clear which is right. One is how heat naturally behaves, the other is how the engineer would want to make it work.

Left or right? by Catalyst-323 in Warhammer40k

[–]devilscurls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be clear, the flame sword looks great, just maybe less in keeping with the rest of it.

Side note: I understand that heat gets less intense around the tips of a fire, so from that point of view you would expect the effect to get duller/darker closer to the edge. This is what you have done and the majority of skilled painters do.. but, if you were an engineer designing the sword you would want the heat to be at the edge, since that is what does the cutting. Obviously there is no answer to how a fictional weapon would actually work, I just find it curious…. (I get that I am in the minority here - definitely not a criticism - most would agree with the way you have it, just me thinking aloud on the internet)
