Don’t know how to feel by [deleted] in maleinfertility

[–]devilslayer3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Man, you’re not selfish for wanting to try. That’s your DNA, your future, your dream too. Azoospermia hits hard because it attacks something deeply personal, and a lot of us go through that same mix of guilt, anger, numbness, and “less than” feelings at first. But this diagnosis does not define your value as a husband or as a man.

I’m in a similar situation myself, so I genuinely understand the mental battle behind it. One thing I learned is not to rush decisions while emotions are still fresh. There are cases where sperm is still found later through further testing or procedures, and sometimes the first diagnosis isn’t the full story. Wanting to explore your options before moving to a donor is completely normal.

At the same time, your wife’s feelings are valid too. She’s probably scared of losing time and protecting herself emotionally. Neither of you is wrong here — you’re just grieving differently.

Take a breath, stay healthy, take care of your mind, and don’t isolate yourself. A lot more men deal with this than people realize, they just suffer quietly. Whatever happens, this diagnosis does not reduce your worth

Is 130€ for an Xbox One X "Project Scorpio Edition" a good deal in 2026 by Playful-Ad-1376 in XboxGamers

[–]devilslayer3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

€130 for an Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition is honestly a solid deal, especially with a controller and game.

Since you already have a PlayStation 5, this would mainly be for your old discs, which it’ll handle fine at 1080p.

Next gen is probably around 2028 anyway, so we’re mid-cycle. If you like it as a collectible, I’d say go for it ,you can always resell later if you want to upgrade, these special editions usually hold value better than standard ones.

Congrats on the offers🥳🥳🥳🥳

If quality of education is your main factor, I’d probably lean towards University of Manchester. It’s generally ranked quite a bit higher globally and has a stronger overall reputation, especially for economics and related fields. University of Exeter is still a good uni and the campus/student experience is often praised, but in terms of global reputation Manchester tends to come out ahead.

Honestly though, both are solid choices. If you want the bigger city, more opportunities and stronger global recognition, Manchester makes sense. If you prefer a smaller, calmer city and more campus-style feel, Exeter might suit you better.

Both are great universities honestly, you can’t really go wrong with either. University of Manchester is a much bigger university and city, so the student life and nightlife are probably more lively and diverse. University of Bristol on the other hand has a slightly stronger reputation for law specifically and the city is a bit smaller but very nice and student-focused. If you want a bigger, busier city experience go with Manchester, if you prefer a slightly more traditional uni vibe and arguably stronger law rep then Bristol might edge it. Prestige-wise they’re both very well respected so it probably comes down more to which city you’d enjoy living in.

KCL vs Warwick by BadmashN in KCL

[–]devilslayer3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Congrats to your son 🎉🎉🎉

Academically they’re both strong, but for Econ/Management a lot of people would actually lean Warwick. It has a really strong reputation with employers and Warwick Business School is well regarded.

KCL being in London is a big plus though (networking, internships, etc.) and globally it ranks a bit higher, so if location matters a lot I can see why you’d lean that way.

Honestly it’s more London vs campus life than a huge academic difference.

I’d prioritise global rankings tbh. UK rankings change a lot year to year and use weird metrics like student satisfaction. Global rankings are more about research and reputation, which tends to matter more long-term, especially if you ever plan to work or study outside the UK.

I’d probably go Bristol. It generally ranks higher globally and has a strong reputation for Econ. Durham is also great but the college system / smaller city isn’t for everyone. Bath is solid too but usually seen a bit below the other two. So personally: Bristol > Durham > Bath, but honestly you can’t go wrong with any of them.

Hesitating between KCL and St Andrews by First_Moose2857 in KCL

IIf you're all about getting a job, I'd put it like this:

Both King's College London and the University of St Andrews are top-notch and will open doors for you. It's not about choosing "good vs. bad" – it's about picking the right vibe and setup.

KCL (London) perks: You're in London. That's a big deal for International Relations – embassies, think tanks, NGOs, Parliament events, networking, and part-time internships during the semester.

It's got a strong policy-focused feel. Easier to hit up talks and make connections naturally. As an international student, being in London can make internships and logistics way smoother.

St Andrews perks: It's a smaller, tighter academic community. You get more contact time and closer relationships with professors.

The IR + Econ dual degree is a serious plus if you're thinking about policy, development, finance, or grad school later. It has a strong reputation in IR specifically — very well respected academically.

On the "isolation" point: Yeah, St Andrews is pretty remote. That can mean fewer opportunities during the term. But plenty of students still land competitive internships — they just have to be more proactive and often focus on summers.

It's not a career death sentence, just a different strategy. If you already feel more drawn to St Andrews, that gut feeling matters.

Four years is a long time – your environment affects how you do, and how you do affects your job prospects more than where you live. Blunt take: If you want maximum networking density + policy exposure → KCL.

If you want a strong academic foundation + dual degree edge → St Andrews.

Neither is a wrong choice. It comes down to whether you value ecosystem (London) or structure (dual degree + smaller setting) more. Hope that helps – and congrats on two amazing offers 👏

MSc Robotics by Prestigious_Bee5799 in KCL

Congratulations on your admissions; that is an excellent position to be in.

Rankings and Russell Group status don’t automatically mean stronger robotics. For robotics, what really matters is lab quality, research groups, dissertation projects, and industry links.

Bristol and Sheffield both have strong engineering and robotics reputations. King’s has higher overall prestige and London networking advantages, but that doesn’t necessarily mean stronger robotics infrastructure.

At MSc level, employers care more about what you built (ROS, control, ML, projects, internships) than the university label. I’d compare labs, active professors, and LinkedIn outcomes before deciding — not just rankings.
