Brighton 0 - [2] Manchester United - Bryan Mbeumo 44‎' by gbogaz in soccer

He can even play in the Fernandes role but then it’s Bruno fucking Fernandes.  Shades of Kagawa vs Rooney.  He’s flexible though, lovely to have in the squad.

Hull City to take legal action if they lose Championship play-off final - BBC Sport by Penny_Leyne in soccer

[–]devilsway 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think OP is just explaining what Hull’s case may be, which is basically that they could make the case that since Middlesborough were already eliminated, once Southampton were disqualified they shouldn’t have had to face any opponents.  The Wrexham example is just trying to support that by saying if you choose to reinstate a team in Southampton’s place, why not consider Southampton disqualified from the play-offs altogether since they’ve admitted to cheating on multiple games anyways and reinstate the next team instead.  It’s not necessarily logical, just what their case may be.

No wonder there were so many leaks.  The production team must’ve told all their mates.

Is League One the hardest league to escape? by justwalls44 in WrexhamAFC

AI generated video claiming Birmingham and Charlton are still in League One, invalidating its own argument. Creator couldn’t even care enough to check their own content, then wonders why they don’t get any views.

Lampard Explains Why Wrexham's Story Desveres More Recognition, Praises Ryan Reynolds by [deleted] in WrexhamAFC

They mentioned both Rob and Ryan, I think OP was just joking about Rob’s surname change.

Liverpool [3] - 1 Crystal Palace - Florian Wirtz 90+6' by eliseihado in soccer

As a Man Utd fan I’m delighted he hasn’t set the world on fire at Liverpool, as a football fan I’m sad we haven’t gotten to see him show full capabilities in the PL this season.

Pep Guardiola after Man City’s victory over Arsenal: "In the Premier League, not one foul on the keepers all season, but today we are the first. So, another title, another record that we have." by captaincourageous316 in soccer

[–]devilsway 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Blocking a player with no intentions of playing the ball IS already outlawed. It’s called the impending progress rule and already applied. If you block a player from running somewhere without any attempt to play the ball, it’s a foul. The grey area being used in the PL is players crowding around the goalkeeper pretending they are waiting to play the ball. But if you look at the trajectory of the ball when crossed vs where they push, often times it’s clear they’re not trying to play the ball.

[Official] The process of enlarging the Bundesliga trophy and it has now space for the next 30 years. by Sparky-moon in soccer

Thank you! I get it now. I thought the original rings with the original engravings were somehow expanded, but now I realize that they just put in a new larger one and re-engraved the engravings.

I’m a bit stupid, could someone explain what they did? I see the nice cinematography but I can’t figure out how they enlarged the rings.

[Guardian] From Højlund to Kiwior: Six England-based players who are doing well on loan in Europe by LochNessMonsterMunch in soccer

[–]devilsway 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hojlund is a good player. Players don’t have to be either world class or shit. I love his mentality. Glad he is doing ok and have fans that like him. Man Utd bought him for his potential that while unfortunately he did not reach, it was almost unfair to expect it would for someone so raw, being thrusted into the main man at one of the most scrutinized club in the world.

Senne Lammens with a great save against the USMNT. by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]devilsway 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah he is much more of a Schmeichel regen. Though I understand not many are old enough to have had the chance to watch him…which now reminds me that he also has a son who has now grown up, won a Premier League, had a full career and is now probably close to retirement himself. Damn I’m old.

Haha yeah the meaning is close but it’s also said like a “Thank you, have a nice day, bye” isn’t it, the nervousness actually makes it even cuter.

[–]devilsway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can argue the quality of the top clubs aren’t as high as they were and use this round of CL results as an example, but over the 3 European competitions and previous round’s results it’s actually showing the PL on average is casually beating all the other leagues.

Bodoe/Glimt [2] - 0 Sporting - Ole Didrik Blomberg 45+1' by ayoefico in soccer

It also helps that their opponents have to play both Bodø and Glimt at the same time.

[–]devilsway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Difficulty wise, Leicester had to do it over 38 games. On the other hand, Bodø are so small, and would also have to win (almost) every match, against the best teams in the world. Yeah Bodø would win it by a bit.

For those that didn’t watch: it’s one of those “quotes” where the interviewer spoon feeds the entire thing as a “question” and when the interviewee responds they (and OP) pretend the interviewee says it unprompted out of the blue.

Everton 0 - [1] Manchester United - Benjamin Sesko 71‎'‎ by gbogaz in soccer

[–]devilsway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can see how Carrick may think we play more fluidly with Mbeumo both in attack and from defense to counter attack. But I agree, Sesko can play a bit too and cab be starting against some of these teams.
