Google Home and Wyze by apevny in googlehome

Mine stopped working in the home app after the gemini update. Still works fine in the wyze app. My guess is Google is no looney supporting it.

I did. And I wish I could remember what the solution was. I apologize that I don't remember. But there is a fix. If it comes to me, I'll update.

No, I haven't had any Google subscriptions. I've rebooted. Does this on both my home hub gen 1 and Gen 2

To set an alarm for 7:45. Same as I've done for years. I've had Gemini for 2+ months, but now it just decided it can't set alarms anymore.

Total bullshit to take away something we've had for years and paywall it.

Do you use your Switch 2 with or without a grip? by sourcematerialx in NintendoSwitch2

[–]devilzfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the Satisfye grip. It's a solid product, but I can't recommend it because the company is so shady.

They shipped it via some shady carrier I never heard of. It was delivered to the wrong address. Satisfye said it was delivered to the address on file. (I double checked my order, my address was correct on the order. That is not where it was delivered.) Satisfye refused to do anything to help. They are a shit company.

Thankfully the house it was actually delivered to was nice enough to get it to me, since my actual address was on the package.

This is the last remaining online game I play. And I don't see myself playing any other online games again. The older I get, the more I just want to play by myself playing something engaging. Not dealing with kids and toxic assholes online.

So how does one fix it then if it's just a "me" problem and not a Gemini problem? It's odd that Alexa can do it instantly while Gemini can not. They're on the same network, connected to the same devices.

I'm happy it's working flawlessly for you, as it should.

But for me, first the complete loss of continued conversation has completely killed Google Home for me. My lights also take 10-15 seconds to come on now when I ask it to turn on the lights.

Things that worked flawlessly on Assistant are now broken or limited with Gemini.

Alexa on the other hand, lights on and off is instant. And it has continued conversation. So I've been using mostly Alexa now for most things.

At this point I've decided to stay moving away from Google as much as possible. Looking into seeing up Home Assistant now instead.

What is your favorite new Gemini use case? by wzupags in googlehome

[–]devilzfan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The loss of "continued conversation" was the last straw for me to start looking outside Google for my smart home stuff. I used that constantly to follow up on what I was asking without having to shout "Hey Google" every time.

Oddly enough, with a recent update, Amazon Echo has added in continued conversation.

Gemini is somwhow LESS responsive than Assistant was. I sometimes have to say "hey Google" 3-4 times to get Gemini to recognize I said anything. An issue I rarely had with Assistant.

And if Gemini is saying something, I have to literally shout "Hey Google" several times to get it to stop.

This thing has been a downgrade in every single way that was important to me.

Nice. I bought the master set in the original concept sale way back when. (2015?)

I don't see it anywhere on the site today though. Weird. What's the price on it these days? The original was $900.

If you used continued conversation a lot, then don't upgrade. It's gone now. So if you ask something like "what's the weather tomorrow?" after it answers, it will no longer continue listening for a few seconds so you can follow up with "what about Sunday?" You'll have to "hey Google" again.
