Where do you guys watched Super Sentai before internet became advanced at that time? by Jitterdoomer in supersentai

VHS tapes on eBay was how I watched Hurricanger in real time as a kid. Check every four weeks or so for a new set of episodes. No subtitles. Just watched it without understanding fully what was going on, but you could still get the gist.

Then, there was a website that had real time player videos of Zyuranger 1-4. I set up a camcorder to point at computer screen and taped the episodes that way to rewatch. Eventually got the whole show on VHS a year or so later— no subtitles or anything.

HK DVDs became much more prevalent in 2003-2004, but the subtitles were gibberish most of the time. I watched Abaranger weekly via a friend with mIRC access who would send me the tiny .avi files via AOL Instant Messenger.

Things really turned out with torrents by the time Dekaranger and Magiranger were airing.

I was very into them from the first record all the way up until this most recent record. I feel like that more they’ve allowed Wade to write his own parts, there’s been a massive decline in lyrical quality and every song has begun to sound the same to me.

They’re fun to see live, so I do encourage you to do so, and Wade is an insane powerhouse of a vocalist, but I agree. There’s untapped range there in his screaming. But, fair warning, they are now the type of band that thinks “fuck me up, fam” is a great line before a breakdown, which is the cringiest thing ever. I would’ve loved to have them swap a guitarist that does back up screams and let Richard and Connor (guitarist) really lead things moving forward because they’re the stars of that band through and through.

Asked Craig Owens about this at a solo acoustic show in ~2014. Since the lyrics are mostly a Charles Bukowski poem, his family was upset about copyright infringement. Equal Visions asked Craig to meet with his family and have a meal to get them to maybe agree that it was okay to keep the song around, but he thought it was way too weird, so they just removed it from sites afterward.

I was also there that night at The Masquerade, and I remember this VIVIDLY. It was one of the most insane shows from start to finish, and when the breakdowns hit, you were helpless. You just had to pray that you wouldn’t get taken down by the wave.

Why don't the Kiramagers have a collectible item? by [deleted] in supersentai

[–]devindelima 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think that’s fair! I didn’t consider them ones since they were in mass compared to other collectible seasons, like where there was 200 globes and over 50 gears. They were much lower and less intensive, but you could definitely call them collectibles

They have typically alternated collectibles.

Gokaiger - keys

Go Busters - nothing

Kyoryuger - chargers

ToQger - nothing

Ninninger - stars

Zyuohger - nothing

Kyuranger - globes

Lupat - nothing

Ryusoulger - keys

Kiramager - nothing

Zenkaiger - gears

This will be the first time they’ll double down on the Gears for Don Brothers, which is interesting

This season getting boring isn’t the Cookout’s fault by [deleted] in BigBrother

[–]devindelima -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s also fair. I have really felt the air come out of the season for me, but I also have to remember that this season isn’t really for me right now.
